When the tank water fills up, it ended with a pretty loud bang as it shuts off the water supply. My other old toilets of Mansfield, and my 2 new Kohler end the water supply (tank fill up) with whisper quiet. Is this a Toto common defect? Thanks

Can a woman with weakening hand strength install this herself? What tools are needed?
Asked by: Joan
Hi Joan, The seat requires one to reach underneath the seat mount area of the toilet. You will need a screwdriver to either 1.) hold the bolt still while turning the nut from underneath or 2.) turn the bolt while holding the nut still. This may cause your hands to have to work at an odd angle and will require some level of strength to get it snug enough. I hope this is something you will be able to do or hopefully find someone to help you out. Thanks for the question and thanks for choosing TOTO!

Can I replace a toto seat in place of a Bevis soft close seat?

Will bolt pattern match up?
Asked by: CuriousFit1
Are you talking about Bevis or Bemis? I did try the Bemis non-soft close seat, cost like $21, and it is very sturdy and weight much heavier. I like it, but think its a little too heavy for the little kids, and plus the shape was not matching well, i.e. the Bemis has 0.5 inch over-hang out in front of the bowl. The bolt size and distance match well, think it's industry standard. If you do want to get Bemis, try get the one with adjustable length of 0.5 inch. That should work well.

The SoftClose feature works well, but to me would seem to be worth the price only if there are small children in the house where the seat slamming down might be a problem. The seat and lid are comfortable and of good construction. The one downside is that there is lateral movement of the seat and lid, which if not properly centered when installed on the toilet, can cause the supporting pieces on the seat that rest on the toilet rim to slip off the toilet rim and give a surprising and scary bump. Once I reinstalled the seat so that its lateral range of movement is centered on the rim, the problem is solved. I do not know if a seat by another manufacturer will fit the Toto toilet, which after several months of use I still believe is the best toilet on the market.

There is too much room around the "soft-close" mechanism that the seat can be move left and right. I made sure that the bolts at the base of the seat were tighten and the bolts did not move during the test. And given the high price, this really sucks. Luckily Home Depot allowed me to return it. I have another 2 toilets installed using Kohler Cavata, and the seats have less wiggle room, plus they have rubber at the bottom of seat to stop it from moving once you sit on it.

I was not comfortable buying a toilet without a seat but went ahead based on the Toto Drake reviews. I ordered this seat also. Took it off and returned it right away. Even though the base was bolted firmly, the seat easily moved from side to side. I was very afraid that one of the kids would get injured with this. I have tried a few other toilet seats and now discovered that the Drake is not the standard shape. I still have not used the toilet because we have not found a seat that fits. What am I supposed to do, un-install the toilet because I can't find a seat?

I don't know why anyone thinks this is a good product they must have not used it for more than a a few months, I have these on my Toto toilets so you would think they would work well. I have replaced all three after only a couple years after the auto close gadget breaks, and they don't seem to line up with the bowl properly either, and you would think they would since they are designed by toto for toto toilets. Bad product, will look for universal ones next time, too bad because Toto seems like a good toilet.

As lots of users mentioned this toilet seat is WOBBLY and the new design has reduced the seat area in the back and does not fully cover the hing of the seat. Also if you look at he seat from certain angle the impression of the seat legs are visible from the surface of the seat. The old seat cover was much sturdier and better design. We are hoping the seat will not discolor some times soon.

The seat is a cheap unit, that I would only purchase for a home I was trying to flip, and I would only buy it for $13, not the over $50 price Home Depot charges. My recommendation is to keep looking, there are better seats in the $20-30 price range. I will be buying one of those, probably withing 6 months, when we get tired of this wiggly one.

They added more corners and other protrusions of plastic that will make it harder to keep clean. The seat we originally had was very streamlined. Now there are more areas for bacteria to accumulate and the cleaning will be more tedious. Also not a fan of the plastic screws that came with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as expected; Easy to install The toilet seat cover on my toilet had been peeling and bothered me for years. But I didn't know where to begin to replace it as I have never done it before. On a whim, I searched for a replacement online. Home Depot had the best price and free, quick delivery. I followed the instructions and replaced the cover and seat easily. I was so proud of myself and wish I had done it years ago. The product is as expected, good quality. The color is a nice shiny white. Delivery was quick.
