The Challenger Solo Boiler features a unique insert cast heat exchanger that provides the light weight and efficient heat transfer of aluminum with the durability of copper waterways. The Challenger Solo Boiler is designed to fit the needs of today’s energy efficient homes with inputs of 85, 105, 125, and 145 MBH. The Challenger is not only energy efficient with an AFUE of up to 95%, but space efficient as well.

As to heating the house. You would utilize this boiler to produce hot boiler water that you would run through baseboard, radiators, an air handler etc in order to distribute that heat to the appropriate part of the structure. To heat potable hot water you would use a heat ex changer commonly called an indirect fired hot water heater. So you would have an additional zone of heat. But in this zone 180F Read More
As to heating the house. You would utilize this boiler to produce hot boiler water that you would run through baseboard, radiators, an air handler etc in order to distribute that heat to the appropriate part of the structure. To heat potable hot water you would use a heat ex changer commonly called an indirect fired hot water heater. So you would have an additional zone of heat. But in this zone 180F boiler water would be circulated through a coil in a tank containing potable water. That zone would run until the 180F boiler water has raised the temp in the potable water to 120F. These tanks only loose 1/2 of 1 dgree of heat per hour. So once it is charged the boiler will shut off. When you use the domestic hot water, it comes from this tank. Long before you use it up the boiler has time to come up to temp and if sized correctly can start recharging the indirect faster than you can consume it. So the proper sized boiler and indirect can give you unlimited hot water produced in the most energy efficient way possible. Again feel free to call if you have questions.
