I have a 79" clearance between the floor and the top of the closet opening. The product specs indicate 80" height. Can the height be adjusted (shortened) during installation? If not, can the door be cut or trimmed by sawing?

Answer:
I believe you could safely take up to 1 1/4" off the top of the doors. Since these are mdf with vinyl wrap I would not trim the bottom. The top of the doors will not be visible when the trim board is installed. I recommend that the cut surface be sealed with paint or stain.
Since the door finish is just vinyl, protect its' surface when the cut is made.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality Don't vacuum near them or the tape used as stain will rip. Buy extra slide dudes you will need many. One bump by a toddler and they break leaving the doors to swing fall off their track and land on your toddler. June 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap Laminate framed doors are very cheap feeling and the floor guide is so ugly we could not use it. These doors would be ok if they cost $100, but not at $277. The laminate also had some factory imperfections in the finish that could not be touched up. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased with our purchase. We actually bought three sets, with two being used for a foyer closet and one for a linen closet. We didn't install it ourselves, as we were having a good bit of remodeling done. Our contractors, however, didn't report any difficulties with installation. At present we're using the doors without the guides, as the white plastic guides provided would detract from the overall look of the doors. The doors, which glide smoothly, seem heavy enough not to need the guides. July 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking doors, no trouble install We have received many compliments on these doors that we installed in our foyer. Easy installation and adjustment The only issue was the center guide. It is designed so that the closer the door is to the floor the more it squeezes the door due to its' tapered design. This made the door difficult to slide back and forth. I solved the problem by adjusting the doors higher and adding some silicone lube to the guide. Now it works perfectly.. These are not high end doors, but, for their price I think they are a good value. October 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doors arrived with major scratches and discoloration. Once unpacked, the doors showed significant scratches and discoloration. The only reason we kept these doors was that we had no suitable transport to return them and did not want to add to costs by paying our handyman to do so; we would have had to wait weeks for a reorder, with no guarantee of better quality, while having already paid the handyman to pick up what turned out to be damaged doors and begin installation. Our handyman was able to turn the most disfigured sides inward, but overall, not a positive experience! March 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Closet doors The doors look very nice. We did need to make them shorter but had the proper tools to do that. It took about 40 minutes to install them. The quality was much better than I expected. July 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase Great value for the price. I installed this in my entryway closet which really enhanced the look of our home. August 19, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great, good value These doors look great, and they were very inexpensive. The biggest downside is the quality of the hardware. The screws they provide to attach the rollers to the door, the track to the door frame and the guides to the floor are made of very soft aluminum. When I tried to install them with a cordless drill the either stripped out or snapped off. So I tried to screw them in by hand and the STILL snapped in half with very little torque. So if you buy this product, do your self a favor and get a bag of 1 1/2" pan heads and 3/8" wood screws so you don't have to run back out. Also, the guides are made so they fit a variety of door sizes, and as a result they are rather ugly and un-finished looking. Besides that, they look great. Frame is made of wrapped pressboard and there are no pull handles. Not sure how they will hold up, but they were far and away the most inexpensive doors I found with the frosted glass look.
