Customer Questions & Answers

What type of fastener is needed for the bottom track?

I am installing tile where the door is going to be installed and I want to know if I need to provide a small wood piece for the bottom track to sit.
Asked by: Stefanpg
These doors come with a small guide that screws into the flooring. This guide is only 4 1/2" X 1 1/2". The rest of my room is carpeting so I am also installing a nice 1/2" tall mahogany wood strip the entire length of the door entrance. Then I will install the guide on top of the wood.

I have a closet that is 8' wide and would like to install two sets of these doors. How much will I need to add for the nominal width differences and is there a 96" track cover that I can order separately?

Why I can't get the 10% military discount when purchasing doors that are only online?

If they were in the store, I would get the discount.
Asked by: Carl
I live further than a morning PT run from my (nearest store); read: I live in the middle of no-where Northern Michigan.... I collect my online receipts and when I make the occasional trek to the local Home Depot. The local staff have been OUTSTANDING about applying the discount in retrospect when I present my CAC. Home Depot's "Hooah" factor has been highly effective for me and I appreciate their actions. I figure there are enough slime bags that would purport to be Military over the phone and online that Home Depot has to put "eyes on" your ID to offer the discount. Sadly, there are dishonest people in this world and the vendor needs to protect themselves from such. I treat it as a minor inconvenience and a reasonable control on Home Depot's part. Not sure if you'r local store would be as accommodating as mine, but I would give it a try. Worst case you are in the exact same circumstance as you are today.

We replaced the bi-fold doors on the closets with these as part of a renovation. They doors were quite substantial looking and the look very closely matched some baseboard trim we had previously purchased (also from Home Depot). The mechanism was very easy and there is an adjustment mechanism that allows ~ 1/2 inch of movement up and down on the wheel mechanism that rides in the track. This is not real wood rather a plastic laminate baked on over MDF plywood. As such care has to be given to anything that would gouge or tear the covering film. I wouldn't put these in a "child enabled" environment. That said; I did install two of these sets in the foyer - which is a high traffic area. Hope is a strategy...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Door damaged I love these doors. I already have 2 sets for the master bedroom. 1 set went to the guest room. The other pair is going into my office; however, 1 of the doors were damaged and I dealt directly with the company. Wow they have the best fast customer service in the world they are sending me rush replacement and I don't even have to return the damaged door. It was way better than having to deal with Home Depot return. They are absolutely horrible company at returns. Usually problem after problem and especially online purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Attractive, Easy Install Purchased these doors as a replacement for bifolds on a coat closet. Very easy to install. Very Heavy. They are covered with paper, they are not solid wood. The 'print' on the paper is very detailed and they really do 'look' like real wood. We are being 'careful' with them as they are covered with paper and do not want them to get damaged. I think as long as you are careful they will last for you appearance wise. We have 4 children ages 6 to 9, and even with the kids using them, they are not damaged as of yet! I'm happy with them overall, and thinking about replacing more of the closet doors in my home with these. Very attractive overall.

Look beautiful and very classy, but made very heavy and hard to open without handles. The so called "wood" is not wood at all, but composite, so you can't even add any type of handle because you would crack it. I loved them until the top strip of wood, which is just stuck on with sticky back type tape, fell off after 6 months and we had to glue it back on. Nice doors, but should not be priced so high. I would say they're worth about $250, not $400.

The expresso covering of the composite is a very thin skin of stretched plastic. It arrived ripped in spots. I was able to mount the doors with the rips hidden on the backside in a basement closet that is rarely used, so the rips can't be seen with the door closed. Hitting the skin with any hard object like a suitcase will undoubtedly rip the skin and expose the composite materials. These doors are to be admired for their looks but not used daily

The only problem is that they are hard to open and close because there are no handholds. You have to touch the glass or the panels to push open and to close, so I am considering adding handles which really alters the look.

We swapped the old painted wood doors on our hall coat closet for this elegant-looking set. Have had many compliments so far. They came double boxed so there was no damage. We had them installed by a handy man since they are heavy and I wasn't able to help lift them. The only negative I have is that they are 1-1/2 inches off our bamboo floor. We decided to not use the track - for now - and see how it works. Our installer said he could take a scrap piece of bamboo left over from the floor and use it to raise the track so it will look better than just a piece of scrap wood. For now, we're waiting to see if we even want to use the track. Even though the doors are heavy, they do tend to swing if opened quickly. Also our doors do not close flush to the wall because of our baseboard. We're okay with that because the opening is just enough to get our fingers in to open the door. All in all, while it's not perfect, it's a heck of a lot better than the old painted doors.

However there are definitely a few issues with them. 1) The rubber bumpers do not stick to the door. 2) There are 2 stickers stuck on the doors that are impossible to get off. 3) doors hang low on tracks exposing a gap
