Thank you for your question. The Tapcon anchor will work. The only problem might be appearance, but if it's just a corner repair, it should be easy to touch up. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Customer Support at 877-489-2726 from 8:00 - 5:00 CT Monday - Friday.

Hi Anain,
Thank you for your question. 3/16" x 1-3/4" Tapcons should be capable of holding your 30-40 pound fan without any issues. Edge/anchor spacing, embedment depth, and concrete thickness/compressive strength play a role on the performance of these anchors.

Customer Reviews

3/16 in. x 1-3/4 in. Philips Climaseal Steel Flat-Head Concrete Anchors (75-Pack) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great concrete anchor These are the easiest to use for anchoring in concrete and the result is very strong. Simply drill the pilot hole with the recommended masonry bit (included in larger size packs) and then screw in the Tapcon screw. Make sure you drill the hole deeper than the depth the screw needs to enter so it doesn't "bottom out" and become difficult or impossible to screw all the way in. When the correct size hole is drilled deep enough, the screw can easily be screwed in with a drill and appropriate bit, or of course by hand if you prefer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install and Hold Great I have used these in both concrete and cinder blocks and they hold great. Drill and screw and you're done. Would definitely recommend hand screwing - using a power tool could strip the hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work Well The only time I've had problems with these stripping out the hole is when I've been too enthusiastic running them in with my cordless, which I only fault myself. A little finesse with the power tool, or screwing them in by hand, and no problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad Their instructions tell you to drive the screw into the hole with a bit in a hammer drill. I have found that any kind of power driver may cause you to strip the hole. I have better luck using a hand driver. I've stripped to many holes to give it a real high rating; maybe with practice I'll get better at it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely worthless product Don't waste your time and money on these screws, because they DO NOT WORK! A regular coarse screw with a plastic anchor work 100% better and are a whole lot cheaper!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick Concrete Anchor I'm installing some label plates on the floor for product identification. All the screws did great. Then went to install some plates on the outside of the building. Only had 1 screw not grab well but as I was drilling, the Scissor Lift moved a little and caused the hammer drill to move a little. That can not be blamed on the product. Yes, I'm buying more of these in various sizes for other projects here. Works best for me with a cordless hammer drill and a cordless impact to run the screw in at lower speed. Real fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Great product and the drill bit is not a cheapo, It is very sturdy.
