How deep should we drill the hole?

Hi, was wondering how deep we should drill the hole?
Asked by: Holedriller
The hole that you drill should be one half inch deeper than your anchor will need. Clean the hall out very thoroughly before inserting your anchor.

I am installing a shed on an existing concrete pad. My plan is to use a treated 2x4 (1.5" fixture) as the sill and anchor the shed using these bolts which would leave 1.5 inch embedment. I was told I could get by with 1/4" tapcons that are 2.75" every 16 inches. However, I was thinking I'd need something larger. So will these work? If so what is the recommended spacing?
Asked by: red
Yes will work fine, I would space the screws out every 16 inches between each stud

Anyone use these for bolting a gun safe to concrete slab

Asked by: Vinch
Yes. I used the 3/8 x 3 tapcon bolts with large hardened washers. I drilled the holes 3 and a half inches deep and vacuumed the holes making sure there was no debris in them so the bolts would not bottom out in the hole. I torqued them down to 40 ft/lbs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These concrete anchors are extremely easy to use and work great. These concrete anchors are extremely easy to use and work great. I used a plain ratchet to screw them into the concrete pad after drilling and clearing the holes and the action of the threads was surprisingly smooth after the first few turns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Used these to fasten a 2x8 ledger for a deck to some hollow and some filled concrete block. I was a bit skeptical at first but they all gripped the block securely and the washer head countersunk nicely into the wood. Far better luck with these than i typically have with redhead sleeve anchors. Will be using these on my low level deck projects in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Solution The Tapcon Concrete Anchor is a convenient option for floor mounting garage equipment and just about anything that needs to be anchored. I found that with a cleanly drilled hole, the anchor bolt goes down easy and holds securely, even in asphalt.
