Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TheDIYBlonde Only 1 Issue, but it's a Big One
It's a great reel, I use it a few times a week and it does exactly what it's supposed to. However, I've had it for about 3 months now and over that time, the tap connector has broken off 3 out of 4 ground prongs from each cord I have plugged into it. Two of the cords are brand new power tools purchased around Xmas-time, so they are not old/worn and they are never 'yanked out' of the tap connector. I seem to be the only reviewer with this issue, so hopefully it's just an isolated problem. I'm very frustrated however, as this is a defective reel and it's defecting my power tool plugs, which is a $ loss AND forcing me spend extra $ on cord replacement if I want working ground plugs.

I am highly pleased with this product, I received it as a Christmas present and have used it several times and highly pleased with its proformance. I was so pleased that I bought one as a gift for someone else as well and after talking with them they too are highly pleased.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Poorly designed spring
Mine broke the internal spring after 3 years. I wasn't able to fix it since the sprint mechanism is embedded inside of the molded plastic. The plastic isn't recyclable either, so I would recommend giving $40 to your garbage man and buying a cheaper one online. The end result will be the same, but your garbage man will have $40 in his pocket.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JH715 So satisified, I just bought two more
I bought one of these about 18 months ago for use in my auto repair shop. I use it at least 2 or 3 times a week. The one I have is branded as a Husky, but it looks exactly like the picture and has the same part number and specifications. It is easy to reel in without getting wadded up like some auto retracting reels I have used in the past. The only problem I have had with it is the 13A breaker is a little too light for my battery charger in high/start position. Other than that, it has been an excellent product. I'm so happy with it, I just ordered two more!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GenTech VERY IMPRESSED !
This is one BEEFY UNIT.
The mounting bracket is made to last and can be mounted to wall or ceiling and comes with plenty of screws for either.
(need anchors? buy your own to match your application) My box had the Husky brand name on it (from the store) and the cord is orange.
The Tri Tap has a 13amp limit label on it and there's a 13amp resettable circuit breaker on the housing, that's quite an improvement over my old one. The cord is quite hefty and surprised that its only rated for 13amps but that's a.o.k. for any power tool I own and that includes my heavyweights Sawzall and 1/2" Hammerdrlll too.
If the retractor system is built as well from what is seen so far, then this baby should last a very long time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rosekbuds makes an extension cord very convenient. Wish I had made the decision to purchase earlier.
Excellent retractable cord. Does not tangle. Easy to access. Going to buy another for the other side of my 3 stall garage.

Looks and feels of good quality. Retractor works good. No issues with mounting...mounting bracket is strong and sturdy. Cord is of good quality. Hope it lasts and works for a good couple of years.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MadisonEE Well engineered
This reel is unfortunately made in China, but its construction is more like that we used to see in the USA about 40 years ago. It has a heavy gauge steel bracket, many mounting options, three dual-arm, brass, electrical sliding contactors internally (one for each wire including the ground wire) and 50 ft. of 14 gauge thermoplastic cord. The spring return motor is encased, and not pre-loaded, so you can safely open the reel for cleaning out debris, etc. The housing is plastic, so no shock hazard. The cord can be latched about every 3-4 feet out to its full length if you stop it within any of the 6 inch long latching regions Pulling it and releasing it outside the latching region will allow it to retract. The reel can be configured to freely pivot on its bracket post, or locked at any of several angles. You can turn it upsidedown so the cord exits at the bottom, rather than the top of the reel. The opening of the reel even has two rollers on pins so the cord doesn't rub on the reel housing. We're so impressed with this reel we intend to use them in conjuction with the outdoor electrical equipment we manufacture. Haven't had it long enough to verify reliability, but it does have a 3 yr. warranty and appears to be built to last. I just hope Home Depot doesn't decide to discontinue these and replace it with some cheaply-made immitation!
