Answer:
Sand is not a recommended joint material for anything over 3/4" in width. Instead, a 3/8" minus decomposed granite (DG) or crushed stone mix material would be a more suitable joint material that could then be stabilized with NanoPave JSS.

Worried about getting all of the excess sand off the stones before applying and also worried about getting the stabilizer on the stones since some people have mentioned it leaving a milky white film on their stones.

Answer:
No. The only recommended application for NanoPave JSS is using a pump sprayer over the entire surface (pavers and joints) and then using a foam rubber squeegee to evenly distribute the liquid.

Answer:
If this project is made up of individual concrete-mold pavers with a sand / base rock subbase, then yes, NanoPave JSS can be used so long as recommended joint material is being used and the joints do not exceed 4" in width. However, if the patio is stamped concrete and the joints have no exit point at the bottom where they meet the subbase material then NanoPave JSS would not be recommended.

Can this product be used for small pea pebble between porcelain tile pavers with 2.5" spacing?

This question is from 1-gal. NanoPave JSS Ghost 2-in-1 Joint Stabilizer and Sealer Bottle
May 15, 2016
Just finished my patio and want to ensure rain/etc doesn't simply wash away the pebbles between the joints but also don't want to damage the porcelain pavers or create any hazing.

Answer:
NanoPave JSS is not recommended for use on joints with screened pebbles or aggregates as they tend to have very little compaction value. Although a bond will be created, the loose nature of a joint material like pea gravel will ultimately fail. It is recommended to install a 3/8" minus decomposed granite (DG) or crushed stone mix material in joints wider than 1".

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not very impressed! I have a patio made of 18 X 24" concrete squares that used to have 2 X 4" wood between them; the wood had rotted out so the spaces were thoroughly cleaned. I packed 1/4"-minus decomposed granite between the squares by a repeated process of filling and compacting with a piece of lumber and a rubber mallet; the material was fully compacted. I calculated the amount of area of the decomposed granite that I wanted to stabilize at 62 sq. ft.; since the Nanopave material is supposed to cover a minimum of 60 sq. ft. in this application and I wanted to make sure I applied enough of the product, I ordered and applied 2 gallons with a garden pressure sprayer. This allowed full saturation of the granite. We've had no rain and the daytime temperature has been 68-72 degrees for well over a week. As you can see from the photos, normal foot traffic continues to cause substantial scattering of the granite granules. I have to sweep or blow off the patio every 1 or 2 days to keep from tracking the granite into the house. August 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not to be used for older flag stone installations We have a larger flagstone patio we installed a few years ago. We wanted to cut down or eliminate the clover growing and ant coming up between the joints. We used this product and were extremely disappointed. We called customer service at the manufacture and they explained that you need DUST to be mixed in with the sand or crushed stone to harden the joint stabilizer product. This product may be good for new installations but not for existing installations. The pictures show what happen within 2 weeks of installation. May 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Used on sandstone walkway with sand filler in joints. Solidified the sand to keep it in place. Only negative is how many emails I got from home Depot asking me to review this product. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TechniSoil1-gal. NanoPave JSS Ghost 2-in-1 Joint Stabilizer and Sealer The product met expectations. It was the only product I found that would not change the color of the coarse paver sand I used in between large slate stones nor change the appearance of the stones themselves. Over the past few months, some of the paver sand has loosened with brushing of the area covered by stone. I may try going over the sand again as I have lots of product remaining. Alternatively, I may sprinkle new paver sand in areas where the joint is low and apply the product to the new sand. July 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Complete waste of money Used on the crushed granite between my flagstone to keep it intact. It did not work at all. $ down the drain. Rain washes all the granite away. Do not buy! July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product It done exactly what it was supposed to. Great product. July 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chunks flaking off I originally purchased 2 gallons of Nanopave for my front steps. This application worked well for pavers with sand joints. I admit I used double the recommended application rate and got good results. At this point I probably would have given the product 4 stars. However, two weeks later I purchased the 5 gallon version for applying to my flagstone walkway with crushed limestone in joints. The container states an application rate double that of the sand joints. OK...so I even doubled this rate as an "insurance policy". The walkway looked great until I cut the grass and used leaf blower to blow grass off walkway. chunks of crushed stone started flying away. I then contacted Techsoil (makers of Nanopave) and they asked a bunch of questions. They are in the process of analyzing a sample of limestone mix from the quarry the mix was purchased from. According to the rep..."Their product should be tested before final use because it is not compatible with all mixes". Based on this statement, I should have gotten a sample from my landscaper prior to them installing the walkway, tested the sample with my $150 5 gallon Nanopave. And then when it didn't work, inform my landscaper they would have to use a different source for the joint mix only to start the testing process over again. BTW: The rep further stated that I would need to remove the joint mix and start over. For this, I give the product 1 star. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding product I typically don't do the online reviews but I figured I would put in my two cents. I had to reset about 300 square feet of older concrete pavers in my backyard. I needed something to stabilize the joints since I used a regular sandbox sand vs the polymeric sand which is a lot more expensive. The product is phenomenal so far only time will tell how long it holds up. Super easy to apply and it won't stain your pavers or stone if you overspray. Below I attached a photo which shows treated area and untreated area which was washed out after heavy rains. I ran out of the stuff so I had to order more from HD. Great product hopefully it will stand a test of time. September 16, 2013
