#12 x 2-3/4 in. Plymetal Zinc-Plated Steel Flat-Head Phillips Self-Tapping Screws with Wings (200-Pack) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for all metals these screws DO NOT work on aluminum at all, the wings do not break off and all holes are too large for the screw to thread.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Self tapping screws with wings. I just replace the wood decking on my 10 x 6 trailer. I had to use a grinder with cutoff wheel to remove most of the old screws after prying off the wood. Obviously, there were no 1/4-20 holes left to screw in new retaining screws. The angle iron that needed to be penetrated was over 1/8 in thick. These screws in combination with a DeWalt driver cut right through the steel with not a lot of effort. I highly recommend these for any similar project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked as intended for us. This product was used to mount 2 x8's to a metal roof. Drilled it's own hole and then drilled through the metal to secure the wood to the metal roof. You should use a one hand hammer drill ( not the big ones) to install these. If you do not it will strip out the metal hole. A regular drill will work but you must slow it down when entering the metal. We did have a few break not many at all. Make sure you have plenty of philips drivers for these. Installed atleast 500 of these. They worked great and I plan on using them regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed for putting a wood deck on my trailer I needed to secure some wood decking to my trailer, which meant I had to go through wood and then drill into metal. I was having a hard time finding self-tapping sheet-metal screws designed to countersink into wood, but when I finally found these they did just what I needed. I will note that in most cases the self-tapping feature of these nicely tapped into the metal. However, in a few cases where I hit thick metal (probably the frame), I ended up having to drill a pre-hole with a metal bit. Even that took a while, so it probably isn't reasonable to assume that any self-tapping metal screw could do the job on its own. Overall I am quite happy with these screws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood-to-Metal Fasteners Got these for a project where I was going to fasten sheet metal to a wooden frame barn. Unfortunately I got the opposite type screw from the one I needed. These screws go the other way providing a convenient way to secure wood to thicker gauge metal without the need to predrill the material. TEKS make a quality fastener and I have used them before. I wish I could review the product better and if I find an occasion to use them I will post a review at that time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for attaching wood to metal When I got these, I did not read the label properly. I wanted to use them on a project where I was attaching wood to wood. They didn't seem to work at all. So I re-read the label and realized they were designed to attach metal to wood. They work well when used for that purpose, I just don't attach wood to metal very often. I should have been more careful when I was reading the label the first time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible...buyer beware...the wings at the tip remove too much material I am building a fence and I bought these to attach 2x4 stringers to square tube metal posts (12 guage) and all but a couple completely stripped out the metal post. I had to go get other screws that did not have the wing tips on them and the replacement screws work awesome. These TEK screws remove too much material and there is nothing left for the threads of the screws to bite into. now will see if i can return these
