Garage door extension springs are mounted along the sides of the garage door or above the horizontal tracks. Extension springs stretch and contract as the door operates to counterbalance the weight of the door. Residential garage doors have two extension springs, one on each side of the door. Commercial doors often have multiple springs installed on each side. Package includes instructions, mounting hardware and warning and safety information. If the weight of my garage door (9X7) is 89 lbs. I have 2 springs (one on each side), is the spring weight rating divided by 2 for the total weight of my door? or does each spring have to be able to support the 89 lb door? In other words, if my total door weight is 89 lbs, what spring weight capacity rating do I need to buy for each spring replacement?
