They shouldn't. They are sealed with paint pretty paint. Over the years I am sure rust would occur though as with any painted metal exposed to sun and rain.

We just purchased and installed a faux stone mailbox and these flush mount nickel plated numbers finished it off perfectly. The nickel plated numbers have a very stylish and modern look and it really compliments our new mailbox. We installed lights which illuminates the numbers even more beautifully at night which gives our mailbox a really rich look. We absolutely recommend these number plates to add curb appeal and style in front of any home.

I used this number to make a new house number sign for next to the front door. The previous was 3" letters that drivers couldn't see from 50 ft. away in the street. These numbers are big, noticeable and stylish. They have not worn as well and were easy to screw on the board. The hardest part was making sure they were all aligned and level.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Numbers look good, but screws are bad China quality The number is nicely shaped and looks good. However, the black screws that come with it are the cheapest quality I have ever seen. I bought 4 numbers, which included a total of 8 screws (2 each). Out of those eight, the heads of three screws broke off while I attached the numbers. (Using a manual screwdriver, not a machine.) Further, the black coating of the screws is very bad, and started bleeding white after the first rain. Please Home Depot make the product 50 cents more expensive and give me good quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these modern house numbers I'm extremely happy with the quality and look of these house numbers. I did spray an anti-rust gloss over them, and time will tell how durable they are and how well they hold up to the elements. Take the other reviews with a grain of salt--many of them appear to be attached to the wrong product, as they mention some sort of adhesive. I don't know if they didn't look closely enough at the product image, but these house numbers DO have screw holes, not adhesive, so this is clearly not the product they meant to review. And while other people had issues with the quality of the screws, mine attached very quickly and easily because they went into a wooden plaque. So it will depend on the material you are screwing them into, whether you drill pilot holes first, etc. My only beef is that if your address has five numbers instead of four, good luck finding a plaque that these numbers will fit on. The only option I had was a wooden plaque that I had to paint and weather-proof myself.
