Answer:
It is a single walled box but it is very sturdy, I would not hesitate putting a heavy load in this box. I think it will stand up under extreme conditions.

Answer:
Yes, there are two layers of corrugated material. I hate to buy boxes but if I must these work great for me. FWIW, if you are moving, supply your own boxes the movers charge MUCH more for their boxes. I keep a tape gun and packing tape handy for my own use but skip buying that for the movers as they always want to use their own. Ditto on bubble wrap.

Not sure what you mean by double walled. It is heavier and sturdier than most normal boxes. I used the medium sized box to pack dishes and other fragile items. None of the boxes came apart during the move and I had no breakage.

Hi,
These boxes are square. They are well worth the money. I have packed my books, kitchen items , etc., and it has held up to being in storage and moved twice and still protected my stuff.

An 18x18x18 box would be Square, an 18x18x16 box is rectangular because the height is not the same as the length and width.

Answer:
The 18 in. x 18 in. x 16 in. 80 lb. Heavy-Duty Medium Box is sturdier and designed to hold slightly heavier loads than an average box. There are many factors that go into selecting a moving box, and it depends largely on the items you need to pack.

Hello Vorona and thank you for your question.
The heavy-duty medium box is designed to hold heavier items, such as a box of books or small appliances. I have found that when moving, the best box is the one that I can lift! For help in planning your move, check out our Home Depot Moving Guide located here: http://www.homedepot.com/c/Moving_Guide.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 49 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ordinary packaging tape does not stick On the plus side, these boxes are extreme sturdy and quite inexpensive. On the minus side, no ordinary packaging tape will actually stick to them. Which makes them useless. This isn't unique to the Home Depot boxes, it seems to apply to nearly all corrugated boxes made from recycled material and provided in a "bare" finish. Rather than being smooth and dry, it seems to have a slightly waxy quality and a surface finish uniformly coated in a fine, dust-like material which is nearly impossible to remove. All three of the Scotch tapes commonly used for such tasks (Moving & Storage tape, Heavy Duty packaging tape, and Reinforced Strapping tape) start to separate after a few hours or days, as did both types of packaging tapes the movers brought with them (one clear, one brown.) The thick, gummy adhesive used on duct tape does seem to stick reasonably well, but duct tape is quite expensive and far less convenient to work with. Contrast this with either virgin material boxes or the shiny, laminated boxes which large retail items like microwave ovens come in- I've got a few of those which I've been dragging around since I graduated from college in 1999 (go Gators) and have been through a total of seven long-distance moves. The 18 year old clear tape on them as secure as it was the day I applied it. Long story short: avoid recycled boxes for any sort of serious usage, such as handing over your belongings to a moving company and hoping that they all arrive still inside the box you put them into. Buy your boxes from a truck-rental company such as Penske or U-Haul. Neither of those have yet transitioned to using recycled material, and while they cost slightly more, they actually work properly. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Sturdy Boxes Great heavy duty boxes. I had to ship a set of car wheels across the country and these worked out perfect. I'll be using these again for another set of wheels I'll be shipping soon. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy duty boxes.. Great quality, very sturdy good buy.. I used these boxes to pack my books, kitchen items , etc., I was very happy with the quality of this product and it has protected what ever I packed in it. It has also stood up to being put in storage for months and then moved twice since then. This heavy duty box is well worth the money..... August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made box We counted on these for dishes, fragile items and more when we helped my mom move. You would be surprised how much these hold considering they are identified as medium size. I prefer them to the large size because they don't get too heavy to lift. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Moving boxes Excellent for packing books. It can hold a lot of heavy books May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty Packing Boxes Compared to other packing boxes of this size, the Heavy Duty Packing Box from Home Depot outshines them all. Though a few cents more in price, it is well worth the extra cost. May 3, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by TAPE DOESN'T STICK TO THESE BOXES - BOXES NOT SQUARE I almost never give anything a bad review. I am moving an entire household Interstate with a Moving company and packing approx. 60 boxes myself. So far I've spent over $550 on HD moving boxes, white newsprint packing paper (online), bubble wrap and clear Scotch tape. I just found out that after taping boxes the tape peels right off. The boxes are not square either so the flaps do not meet. I think it's both the boxes and the quality of the Scotch clear tape. EXTREMELY disappointing. I went to UHaul and bought the Heavy Duty tape with string in it, so far, so good. Don't waste your money on these boxes and the Scotch brand clear tape!!! November 25, 2015
