I'm not sure about the #2 lead, but I am sure the lead/or pencil is no good. The lead falls right out of the end of the pencil each time you sharpen it and start to use it.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a strong product - carbon core (lead) not substantial for real working use. Purchased six pencils for general use and placement. Just a grab and go cash purchase. No matter how the the pencils were sharpened and used the lead kept falling out in pieces. The carbon core was clearly substandard for hardness and durabiltiy. Would get the tip all nice and ready but as soon as applied to the wood for marking the tip dropped out or fell apart. Resharpen, repeat. Sometimes as much as 1/4" to 3/8" piece would fall out. Description referenced some "standard". If that standard was for quality - the pencils fail. Cannot return as I sharpened all in advance before discovering the problems. Looking for a better product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Oversized Pencil It's a pencil. It works. Like the size and color. Holds up well. I just use my knife to sharpen mine and it works fine. Bought two and both work well. September 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Pencil Good Pencil. No problems with lead or wood. I've used them for several years now with no problems. April 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by useless Maybe I got a bad batch or something, but these things were awful. The lead falls out in chunks....every time a length of lead falls out of the pencil, you have to re-sharpen for a ways just to find more lead. Then, it happens all over again each time you start using it again. I bought the bundle pack of them and was able to use maybe one of them. The rest just got sharpened away to nothing because the lead kept falling out. Real junk. May 2, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hold on tight My 10 year old step daughter gives me these pencils in packages of 10 from Home Depot. She keeps me in constant supply, between losing them and my son “borrowing them” ,“never seem to get those back” I need a constant supply. Also if you use these, you might want to consider the C.H. Hanson Pencil Sharpener to keep them sharp and ready to go Cheers Ron March 20, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well the pencil is great for marking wood and paper I keep it with me all the time. Hard to lose any where I go ( I lose pens and pencils a lot ). March 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I picked up a bunch of these and I am happy with them, I just use a box cutter or utility knife to sharpen them. So a special sharpener would be a waste of money and I don't think they need to be a bright color as long as you keep track of them. October 12, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as Advertised It's a pencil. I believe they used to manufacture these without the orange paint -- just a natural wood color. I liked the natural wood better because I like to chew on the end, but the orange makes it much easier to find. July 17, 2011
