Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Yard12 Perfect for shady areas!
We used this product in a large area of our backyard that had been dug down to the dirt. It is an area that has many trees and is very shady. The grass came up beautifully (much to our surprise and delight!). I would definitely recommend!

I started with Scott's EZ Seed all in one. Not a good choice. Then I switched to Rebel Shade mix, outstanding results. Add water and straw instant results.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Doodad69 Great Seed, But Expensive...
I planted this as a new seeding. I tore up my yard that nothing but weeds would grow in, mixed in a little top soil here and there, and about 10 days later, I started seeing little peach fuzz patches. 2 days after that, and a good thunderstorm/heavy rain or two later, and BAM! It almost needs a good mulch mow, but I'll give it a few more days. I was leery about getting anything to grow in my yard, as there are trees blocking the sun in many places, but this shade mix is growing everywhere!
I planted in early spring while it was still cool, which is why it took a little longer than expected to start showing. I am extremely pleased with this purchase, even if it was an expensive one. It took 1 1/2 bags just for my front yard and I have more yard to go. I was just waiting to see how this seed did in the front before planting the rest. The Rebels is awesome seed, and I have yet to see any weeds growing within the planted grass.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kaffy super easy minimal effort
The associate who helped me basically said toss it and leave it. So that is what I did. It has filled in wonderfully with minimal effort and care. Which is good as I know very little about lawns.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by christopherkoch Best Grass Seed Purchase So Far
Planted in spring before the last frost. Planted regular Fescue at the same time. The Shade mix came up first and looks fantastic. It will be in full shade in a week or so. It is now May 6th. When planted, there were no leaves on the trees so the seeds got q good bit of sun to start. I wish I had the $ to spend on more. The price makes it hard to buy. The regular grade fescue grows well in full sun after established but can burn if not watered when sprouting. By the way, I do not prep the soil/grass/hard clay. Keeping the seedlings watered daily for the first couple of weeks seems to be important. Good Luck!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kris Germinated fine, doing well. will see how it does next year
We bought this grass, planted it in an area that has pretty much no sun the second week of September. It is now close to the end of October. It germinated in a week and looks great. We'll see if it lives through the winter and how well it does next year. So far we are very pleased with it. I wish it wasn't quite so expensive though.
