Questions & Answers

You still didn't answer the question about attic entry with it in place

You unzip and push the insulation away? Or you unzip and walk through the thing? Answer doesn't make sense.
Asked by: theBunny
there are two zippers that allow you to evenly open it to the right and to the left. then you peel back the "lid of the tent" to access the attic. The "lid/roof" of the tent is not detachable.

I have a box built at attic opening that is 25 1/2 X 54 x 3 1/4 outside dimensions. Will this fit? Thank You.

Asked by: Bill
It should fit any standard pull down opening. It would probably fit inside your box and have to be affixed to it.

How wide is the lip to be stapled down to the ladder frame? 1", 1 1/2", 2"?
Asked by: ziggy
I didn't staple mine down. I just put it in and gently closed the door. But it looks about a good 3/4 inch lip that would hold staples. When I have time and it gets warmer, I'll spend more time on it.

Rough opening is 23.5 x 52.

Should I go slightly smaller or slightly bigger. I may be able to fir out the long sides to get down to 22.
Asked by: handy
There are different sizes available.

Customer Reviews

25 in. x 59 in. Attic Stair Cover in Double Reflective Insulation with Adjustable Straps and Zipper Opening is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reduces heat immediately Easy to install and you can immediately feel the difference in the temperature as it is being stapled in! Hot air was pouring in around the attic stairway closure and I'm certain the the AC cool air was escaping. Once installed, I used a laser thermometer and saw a 6 degree drop in temperature. I wish that I would have purchased the TermoClimb long ago. Don't hesitate. Buy this now.

One thing they don't tell you is that you gonna need double sided tape or upholstery nails to attach the "tent". Other than that I think this product is going to save me some money on electic bill.

I could tell how well this was working as it was being installed, I could feel my own body heat reflected back of the inside as I was supporting the attic cover whilst it was being stapled down to the attic ladder framework. i thought it might need some additional sealing at the corners but absolutely not needed, it is Winter here now and I cannot detect any drafts or 'cold spots' when I checked in sub-zero temps. - I am VERY glad I made this purchase before I had the attic ladder installed, and it looks like it will last a lifetime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works very well Bought it on a Wednesday received it the following Monday. My husband installed it himself in 30 min. I can't believe how much difference it has made. We have an old house the attic stair doesn't close tightly leaves about a 1/4 inch gap. If you put your hand by it you can feel the circulation of the air. The cover not only sealed off the gap, since it cut off the outtake end if the circulation, it stopped the cold air from being sucked in from our drafty front door when the heat is on. I would imagine it will do the same in summer. Our hall is much warmer now. Love it. The quality is very good. Thick and heavy duty. Haven't had the zipper problem like the other customer yet.

You can still see light through the closed zipper, so it is not a true air barrier; however, it did fit well and helps insulate the pull down stairs as promised. If I had it to do over again, I would have opted for a box style insulator with a gasket on the bottom to truly prevent air leakage into the attic and a higher overall R-value for the insulation. For now, i'm going to increase the R-value by pulling batt R-30 over top as I'm closing it.
