Product Overview

This Breckinridge black acrylic drop-in kitchen sink from Thermocast has the beauty of porcelain with the strength of cast iron yet is lighter weight. An ornate terraced edge graces the top of the double bowls, which are split 40/60 and separated by a 1-3/4 in. divider. It installs as a drop-in or undermount sink to match your preferred countertop application and is equipped with underside insulation to absorb the sound of running water and the vibrations of a waste disposal. The rich, high-gloss finish retains its shine with non-abrasive cleaners and standard 3-1/2 in. diameter drain holes are positioned in the rear to allow for more cupboard space below.

  • Cast-acrylic construction is scratch, chip and impact resistant for long-lasting beauty

  • 2 large offset basins are positioned for workspace maximization

The black just did not hold up. Our granite tops were cut for this sink and I wanted to see if you make this sink stainless or something that holds up better. Also see others are having the same problem with the black even with a lifetime waranty.

It requires the use of sink protectors in the wells and needs to be cleaned per the manufacturer's instructions regularly. We noted many complaints about the lack of durability in the product but we also know that many people use their kitchen sinks like a catcher's mitt. Taking less care by tossing pots, pans and silverware into these sinks without protectors will make short work of the finish. If you want the look, you have to make concessions about how you generally use it by comparison to a stainless steel kitchen sink product. Read Less

Hi Mh3212, unfortunately this sink is not available in a stainless steel finish on Homedepot.com. Does red sink hold up better than the black?

I am very confused after reading the reviews - they are almost split down the middle between lowest and highest ratings!! I noticed that the red sink, which is which is what I want, received consistently good ratings (at least initially). Can I hear from any red-sink buyers who have had the sink 6 or more months about its durability? Are you experiencing the types of problems that seem commoon to black sink buyers in the reviews (finish damage, polish leaving white residue, flaking of surface etc)?

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 127 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible Sink! We installed this sink about 1 year ago. Although while we don't handle it with "kit gloves", we are reasonably careful with it and have cleaned and maintained it per the instructions. It now looks terrible. It's scratched and faded on the bottom and now it has developed small cracks and crazing in the sink. Don't buy this sink if it's going to get any use at all. I'm dreading the thought of having to pull it out and replace it after just one year. June 29, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed With This Sink When I first got this sink, I was very excited about having a black acrylic sink but, my excitement quickly faded after a few weeks of having it. This sink scratches very easily and leaves visible water spots. I have to wipe the sink with paper towels every time I run the water to avoid the water spots. I read the reviews on this sink before I purchased it. But, because I really wanted it, I made sure I was very careful with how I treated it. It didn't matter that I was über careful with this sink. It still scratched. I've had this sink for less than a year and it looks like I've had it for 5 years. I think it's safe to say I will be replacing this sink pretty soon. March 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice It looks nice but hard to keep it that way when the water dries and leaves water spots. Function and design make up for it, but I do feel like I have to clean the sink more often than should be. July 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor quality. too many scratches. gets scratches so easily just from washing plates all I did was wash a few dishes and the sink got scratches. The sink came with scratches. used car wax as the instructions with the sink recommended but no improvement, they are still extremely noticeable. I am very disappointed. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could be better Designed well, however the execution in manufacturing is lacking. The large bowl is not properly sloped to the drain causing water to pool. The under drain finishing is sloppy and not level. This creates a problem with proper drain installation which requires extra putty to keep it from leaking due to the drain being cocked. This could be a great product but it isn't. June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Sink. Remember that it's a designer sink AND an Acrylic product We purchased this sink more than 1 year ago and based upon what we read in the reviews, decided to wait to observe its performance and durability before writing our review. For all the reviews with low stars, if you're the sort of homeowner who throws pots and pans toward your sink from 3 feet away and clean everything in your kitchen with a brillo pad and bleach, then very naturally you're going to be disappointed when this acrylic sink product starts looking old before its time. You need stainless steel. Period. We've found this sink to perform and hold up extremely well for the past year since we purchased it. We placed clear sink protectors in the wells and made certain to wash it clean per the manufacturer's instructions regularly. Once a month we buff the surface with with polish and it looks as good as the day we purchased it. It requires more gentle care than stainless, but it's worth the extra care in order to get the look we prefer in our kitchen. So it's a perfect product unless you act like a gorilla in your kitchen. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Black is beautiful. Durability...We shall see. Well... it's black. Enough said. It's stately. Elegant. The sink's design is beautiful. The question is, how long will it remain this way? The packaging states "scratch resistant and chip resistant". What I can tell you is that when the brand new sink returned from the granite cutter after being fitted, it was scratched and chipped badly. Home Depot exchanged it for a brand new one. Thank you, Home Depot. You've made a loyal customer today. With that said, the sink is beautiful out of the box. Probably the best it will ever look. The sink is medium weight but sturdy. I'd go with this long before choosing the tin can stainless steel sinks in the same price range. And the 40/60 design is great. The deep side is DEEP and spacious! Very useful. Very nice. The installation was very easy. No brackets. Just granite calk on the underside edge. However, I weighted the sink down with large pots of water to help create a tighter seal around the edges. It doesn't move. It's secure. Over all, it's a good value. I found no other sink in it's price range with as much design and style. I give the quality a 3.5 star rating because the sink is sturdy. The sidewalls are thick and solid. Not flimsy like the tin can stainless steel sinks in this price range. But I can’t give it a 4 or 5 star rating. Here’s why: #1 There is a standard. This sink does not follow the standard. After the incident with the granite contractor, I decided to change sinks to a granite composite or a cast iron. Too late! NO OTHER sink (in stock at Home Depot or Lowes, mind you) with a 33 x 22 dimension has the same cut out. All the other sinks seem to be a 21 or 22" front to back and 32 side to side. Not this sink...it's 19.5 x 31.325. So the granite is cut, installed and it's too late to change. I had no choice but to stay with the Thermocast sink — because there was no time to wait for a special order sink. #2 There is a hollow sound when you place dishes in the sink. It’s very clunky sounding. Weird. But, I’ve replaced a cast iron sink, so it goes without saying. #3 The sink comes in many colors. Okay. But Thermocast uses white composite material as the base component. When it does scratch, it really shows up. For that reason, we are already shopping around for a future replacement, even though Thermocast has a lifetime unlimited warranty. So they stand behind the product. Time will tell. For now, I'm happy with the end result. And the lifetime unlimited warranty makes me feel better. September 23, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kitchen My kitchen remodel is now a total disaster within 24 hours of installing this sink. This sink was so beautiful in the store and the black really complemented my color scheme. After the install I thought I would clean off the plumbers prints 1/23/2015. With the greatest intent to protect the integrity of the finish, I purchased Ivory liquid to wash the sink. Well after a good rinse and sponge dry the finish is gone. The more I wiped the worst it became. It looks horrible now. Contacted the manufacturer with no luck!! Lifetime customer of Home Depot and love to shop there!! However, this is the worst purchase ever. Please remove this item from your store!! Buyer Beware!! January 24, 2015
