I recently applied this product to a freshly powerwashed 12x12' deck. The deck hadn't been stained before & even after being washed it had some discoloration from fire pit embers and general weathering, so I wanted something with some color to mask that a little. I used the Flexio 570 Paint Sprayer to apply it & it went on in minutes. The color looks great, but one word of caution - regardless of how you apply this product, be sure to shake the can THOROUGHLY before you begin. If you're not careful, you'll end up with much darker tinting at the bottom of the can.
A thunderstorm popped up before it had the full 24 hours to dry, but luckily, it was a hot day & it must have already absorbed sufficiently b/c water still beads right up on the surface of the wood.
All in all, great product at a reasonable price.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rivka Turned our cedar fence pinkish!
We bought this based on 7 good reviews plus it is 'supposed' to be 'natural cedar tint'. We have a beautiful new cedar fence that IS natural cedar color and when we applied this to a few panels we saw that it is a completely UNnatural pinkish color which looks horrendous! Thankfully my husband started painting the back of our fence which does not face the street so it won't show! We are returning the unused and unopened containers to Home Depot and will purchase TriCoPolymer VOC free non-toxic clear satin which will be better for the environment as well as showing the beautiful and real natural cedar color through.

They have changed this product, be aware. I cannot use with sprayer anymore. My deck and the five other decks I sealed this spring with Thompson's all squeak when you walk on them. My deck is 12 years old and I have sealed my deck every year with the Thompson's. I was thinking time to replace deck boards because of the squeaking. Now three customers have called me back with the same complaint. Brand new deck last year and we had 4 gals. left over and came up 1 gal. shy. put on this years Thompson's and now the color is different and every board we put it on squeaks. Do not use Thompson's anymore. To bad it has been my go to product for years. R.I.P. old formula. They should bring old formula back like Coke did and call it Classic Thompson's.

I have used this to cover a 20 by 30 deck. It goes on easily and cleans up well. I used a roller and a brush. I used Natural Cedar and it has held up beuatifully. I am going to touch up after a two year span and stain a new 8 by 8 deck which I just added. I am optimistic. Note: I bought two extra gallons when I did the initial deck. I see that the plastic bottle is not available anymore. I am assuming that the tin can will be the same. in any case, I suggest you buy 1 or 2 gallons more than you need, just in case.

This product is great. It seals but also has a beautiful tint that makes the wood look fantastic. It is a great product at a great price. I highly recommend it.

Great product is easily applied. Mineral spirit clean up. I brush but roller friendly. Spray didn't work well for me because of uneven coverage. Prob sprayer's fault. I saw today they no longer carry 5 gal's. Only one gal. As big as my deck is the five gallons are much better for me.

I tried some on my deck railings and it penetrated beautifully. No more smelly flammable solvents. Use a brush or paint pad to apply and work into the wood well for best results. It has restored the beauty of my wood, and I will apply it to the deck proper this weekend. Also, Consumer Reports best buy!

Color is awful, make sure to test a section of wood. I will be sanding this product off and starting over.
