Answer:
There is a metal seal to the can. I think I just used a screw driver to punch a hole through it.

Answer:
The label and instruction say not to dilute it.
You could dilute it but it will not protect as well.
Based on the CAS (MSDS) sheet and the label I would guess it is waterbased and water would be the appropriate material to dilute with.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad/Expired Can Product was old and had gone bad. Shouldn't have been sold. October 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Loooks terrible in can...stains OK Th9s stuff looks like Pepto Bismol in the can and on the wood when first applied. After a period of time it dries to a more "cedar-tone". Fairly easy to apply but needs to be brushed out to avoid overlap marks. Is it the best cedar-tone ever? No, but it beats Behr solid tone cedar by a mile. That stuff dried to a "pumpkin" color. Terrible. For the price this product is OK. September 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Woodland Cedar is Super BRIGHT ORANGE The semi-transparent is pretty much opaque. And it is bright orange, especially after it rains and then the sun comes out. It was done in the spring and now that summer is almost done it has faded a bit to a more acceptable orange, but still very much orange. If it doesn't fade more after this winter, I am thinking of covering it with a dark gray to cover the brightness and blend better with the color of my house. At least I won't have to have the deck powerwashed in the spring. It does repel water very well. September 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I like this sealer I have used this product in a couple different colors and it works good. It is very thin and spreads easily. Follow the directions and don't be tempted to go too thick. I had it on some out door items for a year and it still looks really good. One thing I did have trouble with is keeping the brush marks out. It is pretty thin, so you might be able to spray it, but I didn't have luck doing that. July 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks brand new! After pressure washing my deck and using this product and doing a double coat application, I have to say my deck looks brand new! WOW! Considering my deck is already 17 years old. This product works wonders. Water sealing really worked as well as the water beads formed, when it rain after 4 hours of drying time with the temperature about in the mid-eighties and sunny. I was worried when the rain came. But was really relieved and satisfied when the water sealing property really worked with that amount of drying time. For a first time user of this product, I am impressed! September 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good stain The product was easy to use. Covered very well. Will definitely use again. May 29, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Be prepared for bright red when first applied. This stain goes on very bright and will tone down when dry. The product is thick and should be well agitated prior to application. It covers well, but I am still a little concerned about the brightness of the cedar color. If you want a brighter color, this is the one for you, but be prepared when it is first applied. It is an easier clean up over oil-based products. If you over spray anything, it will wash off with water. May 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Magic in a can The Thompson's WaterSeal stain I got is perfect from Home Depot. Semi-transparent Woodland Cedar . I tested it out on a step of the deck in the yard. Perfect! and the wife loves it too. I am going to apply it also to my Wooden park bench over the next few days when weather is warm and clear. It rained a little last night and you can see the test area in the picture how the water beads up off the deck. Thats great!! Our deck is in the back portion of my yard and gets a great deal of sunlight during the day. This all in one product is great. It stains, it seals and last all season long. I like that just like new look so I actually apply the sealer down late spring and again in the fall. It keeps the water out of the wood and prevents mother nature from ruining my prized creations. What more can you ask for. Really good product. June 17, 2014
