Clear multi surface seal, is it suppose to come out white like milk

Asked by: wildcat
Yes, it will then dry clear after curing. It needs to be applied evenly with no puddles. All puddles need to be spread out.

Cement is sticky and doesn't seem to be drying

I think that I've applied the multi-surface waterproofer to thick. The drive is sticky after two days of application. How can I resolve this? Should I use driveway cleaner and powerwash it again?
Asked by: Dale
Dear Dale, Instructions for use indicate that a light coating for Thompson's Waterseal is all one needs to do the job. However, it also indicates that concrete, brick and masonry surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned prior to application with a concrete cleaner according to the directions and cautions on the cleaner. Concrete that has a smooth, flat finish must be opened for proper penetration by Thomson's Waterseal. This should be done using a concrete etch product following concrete etching use instructions carefully ensuring thorough rinsing and removal of the etching solution. Then allow the concrete to dry a minimum of 72 hours after etching before applying the Waterseal. I'm sorry you had the problem. I know things like this can be frustrating. I hope this helps.

5 gal. Clear Multi-Surface Waterproofer is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 107.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from A week later it is still sticky We had a contractor apply this on our 2 month old concrete slab. It is in a warm and dry area, inside a structure. A week later it is still so sticky that my flip flop got stuck to it when I Walked across the floor. We throw events in our space and all anybody could bring up is how sticky the floor is. It's also blotchy and shows obvious application marks. Again, we used pro concrete people and still experienced these results. We will have to strip and buff 6000 sqft and cross our fingers the sticky and streaks come out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied with product and service I purchased a 5 gal bucket at the Carrollton Ga location The service was good They recommended that i have them shake the can. I followed directions and then ran out of the product I went back to the Cedartown location and finally was able to get someone to help me but when I asked about having the can shaken they told me "no" it was against their policy I followed directions again This has been 10 days and the floor is still sticky Very dissatisfied

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! Ruined an expensive job for me. As a contractor and a friend I will never buy any thompsons product again. Left streaks in masonry and ruined appearance. I originally thought nothing of it bc masonry always looks strange during the drying process. This stayed that way. Now I'm left trying to fix it somehow. A true waking nightmare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! This is a great product but we use it twice a year. We like the graying of the wood so didn't get the UV one. You still have to clean the area annually to prevent mildew and staining but that is to be expected. I roll it on. It usually takes 24 hrs to dry completely, otherwise it's tacky.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A good product gone BAD!! As a construction worker, I had used this product over the years with good results. BUT, apparently they have changed the formula and it is just plain LOUSY!! I prepped my new 900 sq ft concrete pool deck as required, and applied 2 coats (6 gallons total) over the next couple of days. It looked great the first couple of rain showers, but then it seemed to rinse away, leaving no protection. Yes, THOMPSON'S refunded my purchase price, but I now have to re-do the whole surface with a different brand product. DO NOT BUY.....DO NOT BUY.....DO NOT BUY.................

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Formula NOT FOR CONCRETE! Stay Away! Have used TWS products in past with good results however, this product is AWFUL for concrete surfaces. I have a 3 yr old covered 25'x13' front porch with a concrete floor which had never been sealed. As per label instructions, I cleaned thoroughly and dried for 4 days prior to application. Humidity was 45-65% with temps in the 58-83 degree range with no rain during and four days after application. A light and even coat of this product was applied with a roller at the label recommended 250 sq ft/gal rate for concrete. FOUR DAYS LATER THE CONCRETE IS STILL STICKY AND VERY SPLOTCHY! I I should have read the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere before buying this product. I have contacted the manufacturer to determine how to resolve this unacceptable issue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant Protection I have used Thompson's WaterSeal for many years to protect the masonry work on my property. During winter months, moisture can penetrate masonry and freeze. The freezing can crack and split the outside finish as it expands. Applying Thompson's WaterSeal before the anticipated first freeze of the season prevents damage due to freezing. It also protects staining due to water runoff during rains and dew. Thompson's WaterSeal is the best sealer I have found that works for a full season with guaranteed results. Due to the uneven rough surface I am protecting, I apply the sealer with an industrial sprayer. The sealer dries clear and does not change the appearance of the masonry.
