This sealer was very easy to use. There was almost no change to the color of the deck with the application. Its effectiveness is evident when it rains though. Water beads dramatically on the surface. After reading the reviews of others I stayed off the surface for two days to allow to cure. When I checked after that time period the surface was not tacky to the touch.
Overall happy with the product, and its application. I would recommend it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wilson Thompson's WaterSeal Clear Multi-Surface Waterproofer
I use the Thompson's® WaterSeal® Multi-Surface Waterproofer on the back yard fence. I like the clear so the wood can gray naturally. The water proofer sprays on easily for quick application. You can also brush or roll on, I just prefer to spray. The 5 gallon can covers up to 1000 square feet so the entire fence can be covered with one container front and back. I usually apply on 2 forecasted sunny days because you need to allow 24 hours for drying.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gerg Keeps my brick fieplaces clean and dry
When I was prepping my house for paint I decided to pressure wash the exterior brick on my two fireplaces. I didn't realize how dirty and dull they had become. Once they dried I grabbed my pump sprayer I use for staining my fence and deck and loaded the waterproofer. I placed a ladder on each side of both chimneys so I could just keep working once I started and sprayed both from the top to the bottom. The material went on easily and dried fairly quickly. Now when it rains the water runs off and when I run my pressure washer it takes much less time and effort to rinse off any new dust and dirt.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pitchfork New Formula NOT FOR CONCRETE! Stay Away!
Have used TWS products in past with good results however, this product is AWFUL for concrete surfaces. I have a 3 yr old covered 25'x13' front porch with a concrete floor which had never been sealed. As per label instructions, I cleaned thoroughly and dried for 4 days prior to application. Humidity was 45-65% with temps in the 58-83 degree range with no rain during and four days after application. A light and even coat of this product was applied with a roller at the label recommended 250 sq ft/gal rate for concrete. FOUR DAYS LATER THE CONCRETE IS STILL STICKY AND VERY SPLOTCHY! I
I should have read the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere before buying this product. I have contacted the manufacturer to determine how to resolve this unacceptable issue!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer No help from Thompson --- Don't waste your money!!
I bought 15 gallons of this product for my new deck ( new treated wood ) and less than a year later I have mildew and mold growing all over the deck. This product was recommended to me by a Home Depot employee. I have written to customer service several times and they don't bother to respond. I an concerned because we walk around on the deck barefooted and are walking on this black mold. Do NOT waste your money on this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cmh33 Thompson's never disappoints!
I got this to use on my driveway and front porch in place of another popular brand that I had always used in the past. (Not sure if I can name other brands). I was a little weary at first using a different brand than usual, but I should have known better since every time I have used Thompson's I have always been very happy and they never disappointed me. This went on super easy and covered the area's real well. The drying time was pretty normal, which was just a little over 24 hours before I felt safe enough to park back in the driveway. That time was mainly due to the humidity by my house i'm sure. 24 hours is pretty normal for this type of product and what I used it for. I am very happy so far with this as it looks great and doesn't seem to make my driveway as slippery as the other brand after applying, which is nice.
I will have to wait a while before I say how well it waterproofs the area, but Thompson's has never let me down before. I don't think that will be a problem but will update later after I have had more time to know for sure.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Redhead Good product but follow the directions exactly!
I have used Thompson Water Seal for Wood Surfaces for over 20 years on my wood porches and wood railings with great results. I received this multi-use product to use and review for The Home Depot Seeds /Product review program for use on wood surfaces and concrete sidewalk. I have found this multi-purpose sealer to be working well on my porches. As directed, we pressure washed, as we always do prior to using any sealant product, and allowed the wood to completely dry for 3 days before applying the sealer. We used a sprayer to lightly apply a small area as a test area. The results were good. We then sprayed 2 light coats on the porches but waited 4 days between coats to ensure it was dry and to see how the sealant responded. I read several reviews about this product so I was cautious in using. It seems the product causes more issues with concrete or stone surfaces so be sure to follow the directions! I attached a photo of the test area on my front porch that we treated with the non-treated area next to it for comparison. The water pooled up on the treated area but ran and was absorbed on the untreated area.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by hillgang Not crazy about this product.
Not sure I can recommend this product. I usually use the Thompson's Wood Sealer each year on my deck. I power washed my deck and let it dry for over 24 hours. I rolled the Multi-survace Waterproofer on. It rolled on easily. It's kind of milky and thicker than the wood sealer. It is still tacky after four days and I don't like the appearance of the wood compared to the regular Thompson's Wood Sealer. In fact I had to go over areas with the regular wood sealer.
