Rated 5 out of 5Â by RE2013 Big and spacious, well made
I've only used it once, but I'm very impressed with the amount of stuff it can swallow. It took three beach umbrellas, six beach chairs, and a tote full of beach toys, with some room to spare. While there is some notable flex and side to side motion to the lid when opened, when closed, it's very sturdy and tight. Installation was very easy with the enclosed brackets. As long as you have your crossbars set up correctly, installation shouldn't take more than ten minutes. It was light enough that I installed it by myself.

Purchased at last minute on a trip to Michigan from Arizona. Needed extra space to haul items back. The product was easy to attach to my crossbars. I was able to install it in a rainstorm in less than 5mins. I would recommend having a step stool for install and loading/ unloading. For the price it works just as good as a Thule or Yakima for the half the price. Was amazed at how much I was able to fit inside, it was a bottomless pit of storage. Didn't hear or feel it on top of vehicle even at speeds of 90 mph on freeway when passing. Would highly recommend! Only down fall is it is a rear load unlike other competitors.

This box is a bit flimsier than I would have hoped, but it held up on two long road trips. I drive an 06 Subaru Outback with factory bars. The box sits taller than other cargo boxes I've seen, but that made it easy to fit a stroller and a large suitcase up top. It was fairly easy to install, but it's not something you want to be doing all the time. I also wouldn't want to leave this on my vehicle when I'm not actively using it. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's a lot of side to side flex when the box is open. You don't want to be loading in a wind storm. With that flex it can be difficult to figure out if something is sitting too high (and pushing against the top) or if it's closed properly. We drove about 3,000 miles between two road trips. Saw heat, saw rain, saw wind...everything survived.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by woody Excellent for Road Trips
I saw these at clearance at my local Home Depot store. The price was too good to pass up, in fact I told my neighbor about it had he bought one as well. On our road trips, it has actually paid for itself. We have saved time and money by spending the night in the car on long distance trips --as we had room for all of us to sleep in our vehicle instead of staying in a hotel. In rain storms... it keeps stuff high and dry. We purchased an overhead storage rack (also from Home Depot) to store it when not mounted on our SUV. It is a great place to keep breakable items during a long trip. I do recommend cleaning it after each trip -- the front does tend to collect bugs. My only complaint, although minor, we were not able to duplicate the keys at Home Depot or other places. Best to install with 2 people. Use a towel/rag to keep the u-joints from touching the top of your vehicles roof.

This cargo box was an excellent purchase. Installation was easy and quick. We used it for a 1000 mile trip to Florida where it rained the whole way there and everything was dry upon arrival. There was no noise or drag while driving, actually we forgot it was on top. We were able to fit ALOT in it - EZ up canopy, large suitcase, 3 duffle bags, beach chair, 2 fold up chairs, tennis rackets, beach toys, and 6 putters. The hinges are plastic and it seems flimsy but was very stable and secure. Definitely recommend!
