Answer:
If I used them outside It would be for a short period of time and I would gp grease the jack screw lightly and make sure I had a base block or 4x4 under it on a level surface or concrete slab..

Answer:
It will rust. This is what H.D. says about it online; "It is ideal for correcting sagging floors and basement beams and providing secondary support for room additions, remodeling projects, porches and decks." It does say secondary support. P.T. lumber set on concrete is good.

Home depot does not sell the plates. However, they do sell steel plates that you would have to take to your local machine shop to have them cut to size, drill the four mounting holes and center hole and press the center for the adjuster bolt pin. Unfortunately that would not be cheap. You can do this your self if you have the tools and the know-how. I'm not sure if Home Depot sells the hardware. You may have have to go to a hardware store to buy the bolts and cap nuts. I would suggest stainless steel because they rust less and are of better grade quality that regular steel. You may also try contacting the manufacturer to see if they will sell these items directly to you or through Home Depot. I hope this info helps you with your project. Read Less

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good and functional Basic adjustable jack stand. Excellent for jacking up floor joists to level or stabilize a sagging floor. There is a lot of flexibility built in to the unit, but the size that I bought was a little longer than I could use. I separated it (as suggested), then cut a couple of inches off of one end. It works fine. October 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Not correct 4 Me. I needed below 20 inch high in which they seem to say in the listing, but after the top plate is added on they are 20 inches of height. So I couldn't use these in my crawl space project. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Leveling the dining room / living room transition Appears to be well built and plenty heavy. Could use some directions, but easy enough to figure out. Would purchase again. September 28, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's OK It works OK depending on amount of lift you need. Once post is bolted in place, you only get a few inches of height adjustment with the screw. I needed more jacking height (over 12 inches) so I ended up using a car jack. September 20, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too tall for what we needed. They didn't carry the shorter one so I had to take it back. It is what it is and would have worked if our space wasn't so short. We have a very small crawl space and we bought this before realizing how skinny the crawl space was. Maybe a cat could crawl in the area. So we're going to have to use something much smaller to lift a beam that the flipper cut and allowed the floor to dip. One nail is not enough! August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jack post We have used six jack post in a remodel, and they have worked great. Very pleased!! September 6, 2016
