Customer Questions & Answers

Threshold location

Can I get this base with the threshold on the 42 inch side and nailing flange on the other 3 sides, or better yet, can I get it without a threshold, and nailing flange on all 4 sides? I will build my own thresholds.
Asked by: Red
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Red. We do not offer a shower base with the threshold on the short side or without a threshold.  We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Do you have to tile the floor? The base looks good in the picture without tile.

Customer Reviews

42 in. x 60 in. Single Threshold Shower Base with Center Drain is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tile Redi Shower Pan 4/7/17, just installed shower pan. Had to move floor joist to accommodate drain. Had to redo pan after first installation. Needed more mortar. Instructions need to be more detailed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install Took about 1/2 hour to install this base, even with a blind connection to our home's drain pipe. I used 1" floor tiles which conformed to the base's contour very nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower pan This is the second time I've used the Tile Redi shower pan. Easy to install and it holds the tile well. No leaks so far (2 1/2 years) from the first pan. I wish the video had a woman in a bikini demonstrating installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DIY Shower Pan Very easy to use. Certainly beats a mortar bed pan installation. The pan was easy to install and tile. The drain slopes perfectly eliminating any worries of standing water. Highly recommended despite the "premium" price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from At Your Own Risk Remodeling shower on second floor. I was scared to do this large walk in shower rather than a tub because i worried about grout failure, water leaking to first floor. I didnt want to do tar/hot mop. I was skeptical that a rubber membrane could be installed without accidentally puncturing the mebrane and - water leaking to first floor. I thought i solved all my fears with this tile product. Tile redi shower pan. I trusted that the plumbers we hired had installed one before. I trusted that if they were not sure about something they would read the directions. Issues with product - it is molded plastic. Therefore it is not as rigid as they would have you believe. We did have to lay down a mortar bed. Plastic does NOT stick to mortar. When the mortar dried, and moisture evaporates and mortar "shrinks" a bit, the molded plastic floor has voids. The floor has "bounce". We all freaked out. You cant tile on a bouncy floor!! We ripped it out and did it again. This time when the mortar dried it seemed worse. The third time and $835 more labor spent to plumbers and carpenters, it was better/not perfect but better. (Plus, lots of worry/tension/frustration on everyones part. plus 4 days lost - i resigned myself to think - well...lets finish, get everyone out of our house. Take a few showers, and if it is a disaster i will hire different people to come and rip it out, hot mop/tar the old fashioned way and pay more $$$$ just to be done with it). So far, it hasnt failed. Its been nearly a month. But i have my plan b ready if needed. Another issue with the product - i thought the dimensions would be perfect. BUT, now after it is finished, i feel that the curb is not quite high enough. I do have constant worry that water will splash outside the short curb and onto the floor and down - to the first floor. Yes, you can see my paranoia about water dripping downstairs. Issue with the people i hired - maybe it was just the people i hired. Were they just set in their ways and wanted to do it their way and what did i know, bringing them this "new" product????? Yesssss.... I read plenty of reviews before i spent my $600 on this shower pan, but i chose to believe that the poor guy who said he re-did his 4 times - must not have known what he was doing / he's a 'home-jobber' / my guys will do just fine, thank you very much!!! To the gentleman that did it 4 times - i sincerrely apologize for not believing you. I regret it $$$$ too!!!! I had also read on the tile ready website that "Hotels" were using this product...which re-inforced my desire to use the product - 'if hotels are using it- its got to be good - right?' Wrong!!! I ended up calling the manufacturer for help. They were sorta helpful but pretty much like - "yeah, that happens, keep working with it till you have removed the voids." I budgeted $8,500 of my hard earned money for this project. I felt that was fair - labor included. The extra $835 for labor because of this project put my overbudget project even more in the RED! Ended up at $10,200 after all my overages. It looks great, but what heart-ache. No...i dont recommend this product. I have written tons of favorable reviews of products ive bought over the years. I dont want you to think im crabby about everything. I just want you to be duly warned before you make your decision to use a tileredi shower pan. I admit I bought it through home depot rather than the manufacturer to save on shipping costs and ease of returning in case i decided against it. I should have returned it when things first started to go downhill.
