Customer Questions & Answers

Do you also offer the 4' x 10' dock kits?

A lot of their docks use 4x10 sections to build out and unless the wood is pre-cut before sale, I would hope this could also be accomplished at HD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value Dock on the Market! This is simply the best value dock system on the market today. Been looking for a dock for years but every one cost a lot more than $1K - $2K. I completed my L dock for under $900 in less than one day of work! The cedar decking looks fantastic. All wood components are properly cut and sanded. Assembly was a breeze. The modules are light enough that I can assemble and disassemble the dock by myself. The modularity allows for future expansion. It is extremely sturdy. A great value! A tip: In lieu of the $100+ flotation log, I bought 2 pcs of 2" styrofoam boards and made my own flotation log for $30. They worked perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product The wood was true and fragrant, not that knotty. I screwed it. Some of the planks were a quarter inch short.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing pieces I bought 3 kits and two of them arrived missing pieces (one was missing an 8ft 2x6, another was short 3 decking pieces) Some of the pieces were the wrong length. If I wasn't a carpenter with a saw at my disposal, I wouldn't have been able to put this together. Also, the nails included in the kit are just 6 penny galvanized. They wouldn't have held this together for one summer (plus the galvanized would have left big black marks on the cedar). I used stainless 3.5" screws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I got this to use as a small platform or "floating deck" for my small backyard (not attached to the house). The quality of the wood is great. The cedar looks really nice. All the frame boards were straight and there were no cracks. Putting it together is easy. But you have to very careful about squaring the frame and using a level surface for good results. A couple of the decking planks were a bit bent but flattened out properly when screwed in to the frame. Some of the decking boards were not that precise in length. Maybe 1/4-1/8 off for a couple of them. Not a big deal but noticeable. In terms of value, for my purposes, the price, at about $5 per square foot, compares favorably to other "kits", whether wood or masonry tile. I plan to get a couple more to put some deck chairs on, etc. One note for people using it like me, the specified gap between planks, 1/2 inch, might be a bit larger than people expect or find attractive. If you knock it down to 1/4 inch, you will need to get one more 1x6x4ft board, which actually fits perfectly with that gap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice dock kit The estimated time to assemble is a bit optimistic if you haven't put together one of these before. If you have a flat level surface with plenty of room to work and assemble 2 or 3 of them, by the time you get to the last one you'll be close to the "estimated time to assemble". These make nice dock sections, but you might want to put a few screws in to add a little strength especially to the frame.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional, OK but could be better What you purchasing is precut sanded lumber and galvanized nails. I bought the 4' x 8' dock. one of the three 8' 2"x6"s was really warped. You wouldn't have picked it out of the stack of lumber at the store. At least a 6" bow. Also two of the deck boards were also warped. This is supposed to be kiln dried wood but usually you don't see kiln dried wood this warped. I know they are trying to keep the price down but I think they should supply wood screws rather than nails for assembly. Other than that it's functional and priced right.
