Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good stuff with many uses Use this for mini docks for remote control boats. Easy to cut and last forever and fish won't eat it out. Also used it for carving then applying fibreglass over it for detailed african head good...but you still need to insulate it with foil because fibreglass heats up enough to start to melt the foam. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for installation and removal of my dock. These floats are great for do it by yourself install and removal of my dock. That is their sole purpose. Before purchasing, I read the other review. That person obviously did not read the description of the product. This float is not a permanent float for your dock. Highly recommend for easy set up and take down. February 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Can't believe anyone would still buy these. These floats were state of the art — back in the 80s. For the same price you can buy the Permafloat roto-molded 24"x48"x12" with 434# of floatation. The roto-molded floats have built in attachment points. They have the same foam inside them, but have a nice protective covering. The roto-molded style floats are so much easier to incorporate into a dock. They don't require building a frame around them to protect them. No need to have any wood in, or even near, the water. I've noticed that the styro floats on my dock has plants growing on them, lots a scratch marks from otters, and they're showing lots of wear. After 18 years they have lost anywhere from 10% to 25% of the floatation load. The only good thing about the styro floats is that it is really easy to pick them up for free with all the people at our lake replacing their docks and floats with the newer roto-molded style. Still, I just order $900 worth of the PermaFloats to REPLACE old styro flotation logs. May 19, 2012
