I purchased this Toro from Home Depot a few days ago, after researching it on the web. It is my first battery powered unit after having a Ryobi gas powered unit for about 10 years. The Toro is easy to assemble, and very easy to use. Our home is on a 0.3 acre lot and trimming the grass is needed along the driveway, the fencing, deck and around the flower beds - relatively light work. Overall it takes about 40 minutes to do with the Toro and I still have 3 bars (of 4 bars) of power left. So much easier than a gas powered model and more than adequately powerful. The line advance system works well, including the manual advance, and the conversion to an edger is simple and works well. Very pleased with my choice, including that is does not need to be a gas powered model since it has plenty of power for my needs.

This trimmer preforms very well. I am using it on two lawns both are approximately 5000 sq ft . The battery life is more than adequate to do both of them. The lithium Ion battery stays strong until it runs out of charge. Then its just like someone flipped the off switch. So keep an eye on the battery strength indicator.
It will take some getting use to if you are switching from a gas trimmer, do to the fact that the gas trimmer is so aggressive. If you have heavy over grown brush to cut back you better stick to the gas trimmer. If you need to trim what the mower missed or clean up the drive way and walk way edge this works well.
The wire guide is nice. it's an aid to let you know where the string is.It helps when trimming around flowers.and doing the walk way edging.
What I don't like about it .... nothing. Clean up, I use a old 6inch paint brush to clean off the vents around the motor. This keeps the motor running cool.. Another nice thing ,Toro is giving us a full two year warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by boarderpatrol good for light residential
I purchased this yesterday as my old 2 cycle string trimmer quit on me. Used it today and there were some teething issues but so far I like it. Charged the battery for about 3 hours until it was fully charged. Directions say green light will come on but my charger just shows an absence of a red light (when it was charging). Next, the directions don't explain the power saver feature well. I figured out how to turn that off. Then I had too short of string and remember reading that the string automatically extends out after each power on. I didn't see this behavior and had to manually get the string out longer. Once I did this, I found that it worked in edging and trimming modes. Final note is the trim guard doesn't work perfectly as when I ran it against the wood fence, not all grass was trimmed so I had to turn the head to get closer. Just learning how to use it I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Traveller Does everything I need. Great Buy
I have 2 edger/trimmers. One is an electric "blade" type that cuts into the ground to cut roots/runners. It does the job well, but does not create crips edges on grass, etc. above the ground. I purchased the Toro string trimmer for this purposes, as well as general horizintal trimming. I have about 20,000 square ft of yard with a landscape timbers around the exterior. I can trim all ofthe yard border, around the house and all ofthe landscape planting areas on about 1/2 charge or less. With the battery installed, the trimmer balances nicely in both trimming and edging configuration. Changing from edger to trimmer and back again is easy and simple. Will now purchase a second unit for my second home as this one works so well.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by HappyYardman At last, a quality cordless trimmer
I had read many reviews of cordless trimmers such as the Worx and Black & Decker machines, but there were not very many totally positive reviews. Based on a very limited number of reviews for the Toro, which were all positive, and its higher 24 volt power I decided to take a chance on it. Thus far I have not been disappointed in any way. It has plenty of power for routine residential grass trimming and the battery has held up long enough for me to edge along the sidewalks front and back and to trim along the stone edging for both yards. The edging wheel makes that task much easier and more precise. Thus far I love this machine and the full 2 year warranty is a nice addition too. The battery recharges quickly and the construction quality is first rate. Toro has come up with one great machine.
