I bought this used twice. Had to replace broken head. Got that fixed. Used again. Fourth time, rope that starts it pulled out and did not go back in. To the shop again. First shop said it could not be fixed. A friend fixed it. Used again. Rope pulled out again. At that point I gave it to friend because I was ready to throw away. So basically I was out about $250 for weed eating about 5-6 times.

You mix the oil and gas in a can, fill up the string trimmer tank, then use it to trim and edge the yard. Before I had gone through half a gallon of gas, about 3-4 uses, the engine was running, but then quit with a loud metallic clunk. The pull start would not work, and the engine would not turn. Piece of junk. I have never had anything of such poor quality. I thought buying a Toro would last at least a year or so. Not so....

Easy assembly and ready to use out of the box. I did my homework prior to purchasing this particular trimmer. I've used it 5 times so far this summer and have been able to get it started immediately. The ability to use other attachments sets this particular trimmer apart from the Stihl comparables.

One screw put it all together. Started easily following directions. Line fed well while trimming. Smoke-free. Engine heat can be a bit much when it nears the forearm/elbow - I suggest a long sleeve shirt for trimming.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JimFromIL Great trimmer, quality brand, but issue with handle
I purchased unit to replace my Ryobi curved shaft trimmer where I was constantly having issues with the head and line feed problems. I bought this based on Toro's brand reputation. Overall, I like the product and have used it one time. Start up and cutting action was smooth, and error free. My only small issue, was with the handle assembly. The handle screw and wing-nut was not tight enough, and the handle moved a little during operation. The parts themselves are made of a hard plastic, and should be metal. Luckily, I was able to use the screw and wing-nut from my old trimmer's handle. I did order replacement parts for both the screw, and the wind-nut. Other than that, I look forward to many years of service from my new trimmer. I also like that I can use my original attachments (blower, and brush cutter), from my old trimmer. A bit pricey, but hey; it's a Toro!

Had one of these for 10 years and it has worked great. Finally decided to get a new one even though the only thing wrong with the old is I got tired of the leaky fuel line seal to the tank. Could have repaired but figured it was time. Unfortunately I ended up with a husquervana from the blue store thinking the larger engine would be better, but it was a piece of junk and returned it. Fortunately Home Depot still carries this Toro so I picked it up and found its smaller engine superior the the comparably priced husquervana. Only problem I've had is the starting is a little tougher than the old toro (but the husq was s real pain to start) and am wondering if it's because I now use that premixed fuel that's supposed to be better for the engine. Anyway, I shoulda stuck with toro but at least my little experiment proved why.

So far I am very pleased. Only used three times (half hour to 45 minutes each time) with no problems. I'm left handed and that does make a difference. You would know if you've done and worked on as much lawn care, tree trimming etc as those who have. Balance good, minimal arm/hand fatigue (vibration/shake low). I prefer the straight shaft vs curved. Less vibration and further from the business end of trimmer. It is a bit on the noisy level but acceptable. For a consumer model I would rate this model at the top. Curious on the attachment aspect. Not sure which I'll get first.
