No assembly required and switched back from 4 cycle as it died an untimely death. I do not mind mixing the oil and gas as you get more power. I do use high test gas to stay away from Ethanol. My Trimmer plus attachments all work. Edger. Weed Wacker. Hedge trimmer. Chain saw trimmer. Cultivator. Starts with ease once you get down the technique. It is light and easy to handle. I did switch out the lower handle from an old unit as is is held on with four screws and a plate rather than just one retaining screw. It feels more secure and durable. See picture. I used it today with a hege trimmer attachment and had no issues working above my head.

The Toro Power Head is far superior to the Ryobi and very well worth the additional price. Fits Expand IT products perfectly.

I purchased the previous model of this power head (with trimmer attachment) in early 2011. It worked great the first season. The next year, it started leaking gas from the gas line around the fuel tank. Big mess, kept dying. Went online and found that this was a common problem with the older model. Took it to a dealer and they replaced the fuel lines, but after a few more months, same thing. So, when I went out to purchase a new one, I was real reluctant to buy another Toro, but wanted to buy only a power head since I already owned all the attachments I needed. After inspecting the new model, it appeared that they had updated it with an updated fuel storage and fuel delivery system. Instead of spending $300+ for a higher end Echo product (not to mention a bunch more for attachments) and ending up with a bunch of useless Toro-compatible attachments, I decided to go with Toro again (against my better judgement). I purchased this 5 months ago in April 2013, and it has been working wonderfully on my 2/3 acre lot. I have a Toro trimmer head, a Craftsman edger attachment and a Ryobi blower attachment and they all work great. It has plenty of power, is fairly light, and pretty well balanced. It starts up very easily every time. The only issue I have with this product is that during heavy use, the area of the power head that the underside of my right forearm rests on gets kind of hot--not burning hot, but uncomfortably hot. Other than that, this is a great product at a very reasonable price. The product is well-made and solidly built. It is a great value and I highly recommend it.

I got this to replace a garbage Ryobi power head. Based on reviews I just bought this Toro 2-cycle power head. It's compatible with the ryobi attachments. Even though it's 2-cycle, it started easily and does NOT sound like a chain saw...in fact it's probably quieter than the ryobi. And, it's a LOT lighter. (In general a 2-cycle gives twice the power of the same displacement 4-cycle. Also less weight due to no valves or camshaft.)
Only downside is having to mix the fuel on the toro, but I just bought a 1 gallon fuel can, poured in the oil that came with the unit, filled with gasoline and now I have a gallon which should last me a few months.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cigga Great Toro trimmer
This toro power head had plenty of power for all the jobs I needed done. I was able to used me old troy-bilt trimmer and edger attachment with it. It runs pretty smooth and not too much vibration compared my cub cadet power head that my dad had given me. The cub cadet had trouble edging and it died on me so I went out and got this toro and was very impressed. The foamed handle helped with the vibration and was comfortable. All of my life i had to pull the starter cord atleast 10 times to start, so when this toro started up in one effortlessly pull, I was really excited. So far, it is worth all $99. I hope all my buddies are right about toro lasting a long time.

I needed to replace my Ryobi power head. It never ran that great, was a pain to start and two years ago I mistakenly left fuel in it and last spring it wouldn't start. I used an old trimmer last summer but this year I had tree and hedge trimming to do and needed my expand-it attachments. The Toro fits all my attachments so I gave it a try. I'm now using Trufuel and this thing runs like a hot rod. Once primed it fired right up. It turns the trimmer head, pruning saw and hedge trimmer like the Ryobi head never did. I can set it down while running and it just purrs. Great value and one awesome power head. Only use Trufuel. More expensive but most folks won't use that much and with the increased performance and added protection it's worth it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BenW Excellent Ryobi Replacement
I purchased this after years of constantly fighting with Ryobi power heads that never operated at full power (if I could get it started at all). I already had 5 attachments for the Ryobi so wanted to keep the interoperability and the Toro works perfectly. I've used it constantly over the last 3 weekends (on the 3rd tank of gas) and it starts with 1-2 pulls and runs perfectly.
This was the best $130 spent for yard maintenance and I should have done it years ago.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nano Best replacement for old 2-cycle RYOBI lawn tools power head
A good value 2-cycle choice for immediate swap out of my old 2-cycle RYOBI blower & weed-eater powerhead that would remain compatible with all my existing attachements. I needed to be able to use my existing RYOBI hedge trimmer, edger, blower, and tiller attachments. It would have cost many hundreds of dollars to move into a new system because of having to buy new attachments. I also wanted to stay with a 2-cycle engine which was no longer available from RYOBI, and did not like the faults and problems showing up in reviews of the advertised 4-cycle RYOBI replacement. Very happy with product.
