Asked by: Anonymous
No, it does not make a loud noise like other gas mower. From small distance you wont even hear if mower is running or not.

Could I possibly love this mower more than my 15 year old Toro rechargable that seems to be having problems with the charger this year?

Wondering if I should pay to fix my current one, or if getting a new one would be an upgrade.
Asked by: Anonymous
I think there are pros and cons to this question. My old Toro rechargable mower was only a 24 volt and often ran out of power doing my yard before I was finished. New model is 36 volt and I have yet to run out of power on the mower. But it is heavier and I personally run out of energy before it runs out of power on the mower. I miss the side shoot that could be attached and it is no longer an option on the rechargable mower. I just plain wore the housing on my old mower out. I miss the one lever for back wheels and one lever for both front wheels to raise and lower the wheels; it is now a lever per wheel and just not as easy to change the height as my 15 yr old Toro was. I think this change in mower hgt adjusting was a cost saving measure for the company and is a mistake. But I really am happy with the mower despite the changes!

Customer Reviews

20 in. 36-Volt Cordless Electric Lawn Mower is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 96.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting our 2nd one This is my second review. I did not understand that side discharge is a special configuration, so we ran the machine 5 years on our quarter acre without the bag, before it started to overheat. In the 6th year we wised up and put the bag on, but I had also planted a lot of clover in the lawn and this adds to the wear on the mower. So after 6 years we are getting a new one. We keep the lawn at 3 inches so bagging doesn't hurt it any, and I discovered that the clippings compost as dry in our spinner bins, which was needed. Anyway, I love that I can order online, have it delivered free, and my local mom & pop dealer gets the credit. Looking forward to at least another 6 years of happy mowing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Toro Quality I have owned Toro mowers before, but this one is a piece of junk. This is the 2nd electric mower I have owned and this does not hold a grass blade to the Electric B/D that I had before. The bolts and nuts come off and always need to be replaced. The grass catcher bag holds very little and is very difficult to take off and replace. The mulcher is very difficult to get out of the way of the grass catcher. The handle bolts will not stay in place. The hight adjustment is way off and does not cut even, although I am very careful to make sure all wheels are in the same notch. This is beyond a doubt the worse lawn mower I have ever bought. $400.00 is way to much for this piece of junk. I wish I had bought a gas Honda for the same price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who would have thought.. This is my second battery powered mower. The first one was OK, but this one is better. The 36 volt battery gives it more cutting power. I was afraid the bigger battery would make it too heavy. This is not the case. At 20 inches wide it is 2 inches wider than the last one which I had for 12 years. The wider cut saves me one trip around the yard. The old one and the new one are Toro. After 12 years the old one would not hold a charge and since the deck was beginning to rust a little I opted for a new one. If I get 12 years out of this one I will be 72 and looking for someone else to mow the lawn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Going green feels right I have a large yard and did not expect the mower to perform well over thick grass (from everything I read) so I made first cut on one section of yard high and went back over at lower setting. The second section I decided to try it at the lower setting and it cut OK. I finished well over half the yard before the mower started weakening which was well over an hour of run time. The cut quality was OK overall and I had to go over a few sections again. You definitely want it to be dry when you mow (no morning dew) and I can see why they recommend keeping the blade very sharp. Bagging was fair and mulching was good. The mower was light and easy to push. The best part was not burning all the gas and going green!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only Buy If You Plan on Replacing Soon I purchased this Toro electric mower a year ago as a result of reading some user and critics reviews. The battery is starting to give out, but that is not the main issue. This lawn mower has never cut or mulched well, let alone cut evenly. In tall (3 inches or more) or wet grass situations, I cannot mow more than 10 feet without the mower battery stalling. My lawn is only a quarter acre and yet the battery is not sufficient to finish the job. I have to recharge the battery for 3 hours and come back outside again. Do not buy this lawn mower. If you do decide to continue with your purchase, have the expectation that you will be replacing it soon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does everything except cut grass Battery life is good. Recharge rate is good. Mower does not have enough power to put cut grass into the small bag. It does not have enough power to mulch either. It does not have enough power to lift the grass that was bent by the wheels on the previous pass. Cut clockwise, counter-clockwise, back and forth, chris-cross, half-laps, doesn't matter, I always get strips of uncut grass where the wheels run. Very disappointing lawn mowing results. One star is too many!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This electric mower will not disappoint! Forget what you been told about eletric mowers. This one defies all the old rules. It's compact, lightweight, quiet and mows beautifully. We were afraid the Toro would not have enough power to cover our whole lawn (which takes 45 minutes to an hour), but we were wrong. It does the job. It's very easy to recharge and maneuver. My husband and I are always getting questions and compliments on it. If you have a moderate sized lawn and are looking for an electric mover, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Good Mower Surprisingly Good Mower, enough power to do my large lawn. The only weaknesses is the trigger that turns the mower on is weak plastic and the connector between the battery charger and mower is poorly designed and destined to break. Great mower tho.
