I went through not one, but TWO of these mowers just to make sure the first one wasn't a fluke. They both had the exact same problem in which we realized what it was today. It is self propelled RWD, and the bolt that holds the Wheel to the bracket and through the gear does not have a retaining/locking nut on the backside to keep it from self loosening itself as you do its one and only job, Mow the grass. Since TORO engineering aren't the sharpest tacks in the box, When this occurs and the wheel comes off it also strips the gear for the drive causing even more damage. My lawn takes about 20minutes to complete with a push mower so It's fairly small, and this unit was 6 weeks old and only used about 4 times. Safe to say at $350 it's not very cost effective to mow the lawn 4 times and it reaches the end of its service life.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ronr It was difficult to start first time!
It was somewhat diffcult to start first time, and after it take 2 pulls to start. This may sounf OK but down the road what to expect?
I still have 3 weeks, I may return and look at the Honda Mowers...
Folding feature is outstanding...

I bought this product for 2 reasons:
1. It's a Toro. The brand is highly rated and came recommended to me by multiple sources.
2. I can safely store it in a very small space (see picture). I can stick it on the side of my garage and still have room to get out of the passenger side door.
Other than that it does it's job. It starts up, it cuts grass.
Can't rate it higher than 4 stars because I've only owned it for a couple of weeks.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by p5150 Mower control cables rub against rear wheel.
I just purchased this self propelled front wheel drive Toro mower and pulled it out of the box and installed the engine oil and gas. The mower immediately started with one pull of the starter cord. I'm overall pleased with my purchase except for one issue that needs to be corrected. The factory in Mexico that made this, must have poor quality control. Both control cables that go up the left side of the handle from the mower deck, rub against the top of the left rear wheel. It appears that the cables are too long and need shortened. I contacted Toro and they state that I should take it to my local Toro service center for repair. That's a 45 minute drive for me. A brand new mower costing $329 shouldn't need to be repaired right out of the box.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LookingForNewMower Disappointed - design flaws and QA issues
Not what I expected. The SmartStow feature seemed nice, but came with compromises that took away from the mower. The handle height was not comfortable, much to low with no adjustment. I would be bending at the waist too much to turn the mower. The gas cap was missing out of the box and under the deck the drive belt was exposed, couldn’t tell if designed this way or if a cover was missing. As in some other posts, the cables are definitely too long and rest on on top the left rear wheel with way too much slack. This is probably needed to fold the handle for stowing. Enough negatives for me to promptly put back in the box and return to the store.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cew Warning do not buy
this lawnmower is garbage the whole time you're cutting the lawn grass clippings and dirt are shooting back at you because they bypassed the top of the bag, also it will not pick up 80% of the dry leaves on the lawn. estimated 200 leaves and 5000 square-foot of grass. Also the front wheel drive feature on this mower does not work after the bag is approximately one quarter full due to the weight on the rear of the mower the front wheel drive wheels just spin. I purchased this mower because of the Toro name, I will never buy another Toro product as long as I live and I should have returned this the first time I used it but my wife told me to give it time I just had to get used to it

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Disch Very good mower
I'm 6'3" and 60 years young. Bought this mower after doing a lot of reading and research, Had a rating of a B+ and so for, after 4 cuttings very happy. Lots of power and the self propel is fast if you keep it wide open, but for me it could go even faster. Yes the handle is a little low but not bad for me being 6"3". certainly don't want it any lower. Only been using the side discharge shoot and mulching so far. Haven't used the bag and normally don't. Went together easily and started right up first time any yes the power cable rubs a rear wheel a little but can easily be fixed with a zip tie. folding and storing is simply. Height adjustment is easy too.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RJ57 awesome mower
Needed a new mower to replace one that hit a hidden object and ruined the effectiveness of old mower. The Toro is self-propelled and starts so easy. It easily handles our lawn (approx. 1/3 acre) with lots of obstacles and small hills. The Toro handle folds down for storage and fits nicely in the garage. Home Depot personnel help us load into our car which was no easy feat.
I highly recommend this mower if you are looking for a dependable, easy start mower. Toro is a well known company and parts are readily available at Home Depot.
