Bought this for my Z4200 and have been very pleased with it. I've used the mulching kit for several weeks now in both tall/thick grass and short. It does a good job most of the time, although in heavy grass it will leave an occassional clump. It will also clump if you sit in the same place for very long while there's still grass clippings in the recycler.
Installation wasn't difficult and even though the instructions said to remove the deck, I did it while still installed on the mower. It took approximately 2.5 hours to install.

So I give this 5 stars for the way my toro mulches after installing this. I give it 2 stars for installation and how it's made. Like many other reviews, mine didn't quite fit and holes didn't quite line up. On mine, I didn't have to drill new holes, but some "tabs" were welded on crooked and interfered with the curvature of the mowing deck. Luckily I own a metal grinder and had to grind down the tab to get it to fit right and the holes to line up. Sloppy manufacturing, and not really acceptable to make someone have to go through that, especially people who don't have metal grinders. But sadly, what other choice do you have if you need to mulch with your Toro?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by chobeeap Yard looks manicured.
Takes some time to install but not overly difficult. I used my motorcycle jack stand and a couple of wood blocks to lift the front of the mower and was easily able to access every attachment point. My guess is that those that complain of grass clumping up may not have installed the kickers the right way or they are mowing wet grass. I have had no problems and love the way the yard looks with no raking. It's nice when mowing on windy days to not have the grass and dust blowing back on me. Faster mowing time with no chute to have to work around. Wondering about the ease of locating mulcher blades when those that came with the kit wear out.

I tried to buy the mulch cover only. That cant be done. I ONLY used the cover. it mulched flawlessly. I am cutting 2-3 inches of st augustine grass(very thick) and had NO problems. The rest of the kit is unnecessary.. i also ordered the bagger. When i was looking at the mulch kit, i wondered if the pieces that go inside the deck would affect my bagger's performance. I called Toro and asked. They told me it would and i would have to be remove it to use the bagger.
They could sell the mulch cover only for about $25 and save us all $125.

Purchased a used TORO Z4200, several years old and wanted to add mulching kit. The kit I purchased from Home Depot installed very easily and works great. TIP: I DID NOT remove my deck, I put the front up on jackstands and installed the kit without any problem. Had to drill out a few fasteners but the directions stated that. Cuts great and leaves no grass trails... Price was competitive and with free shipping made it even more attractive.... Would recommend to anyone...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dave62 42 in. recycler kit for toro timecutter z
I purchased this product mainly to mulch leaves in the fall. Putting it on the mower the first time was a
little difficult but turned out well. It did everything I expected of it. Would have given it 5 stars except for
the installation of the product.

The recycler kit worked well, but it traps lots of clippings that don't wash out with the washout port. All the wet grass smells really bad in the garage. I removed the large plate and the piece that covers the chute outlet, so the only parts of the kit that I'm using are the three plastic kickers and the new blades. Using it this way still mulches the grass but allows proper cleaning.
The new blades have smaller sails than the originals, so they don't make much suction or noise. You can mow over the edge of mulch without throwing it into the lawn like the originals do.
Some reviews mention dull blades. Mine were sharpened, but then dipped in paint. A simple job with a file to correct.
In summary, I would recommend just buying the blades and forget the kit.

I bought his I zero turn. And with in 2 weeks the deck stabilizer broke. And the company is giving me the hardest time to try and get a new one. So I bought the part myself and put on. To make it worst another 2 weeks went by and the part broke in the same spot. And once again HOME DEOT CORP. is not making this right. As a customer I feel that their product is defective and that I should get a new one.
