This trimmer is more than able to take care of the job that my previous 25cc Weedeater gas trimmer did and then some. It also wacks the weeds on the side of my yard without any problem. I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it. My wife also loves it as it is much easier and convenient for her to use than our previous trimmer. The battery life is good and it recharges very fast even though I have not needed to do that for my yard. The only draw back I found was the trimmer proctector. I found it was too long to allow for the trimmers to do their job as I needed it done. I solved that problem by unclipping it from the trimmer and it all works well for me now, hope that Toro is able to adjust this design glitch by making one that is smaller by about an inch or two, This is by far one of the better trimmers I have owned. The 48-Volt Trimmer spool head speed is equivalent to tested gas trimmers. The trimmer provides gas-like performance without the hassle or maintenance of gas. The extended steel shaft, cast aluminum head provides long lasting durability and the 13 in. dual line gets any tough job done fast. I'm not sure I've used a 25cc 2-stroke trimmer before; however I did own a gas trimmer previously from Sears and I definitely prefer this Lithium battery powered trimmer. This trimmer has a power dial which goes from 2-10 and I've thus far (for approx. 2 months) have only needed to use level 2 for my very large front and side yard and small back yard. The self feed on this trimmer is excellent, not jamming or sticking which other self-feeders have done in the past. Also the feed allows you to use the same spool for a significant time, which with other trimmers, I've used 1 spool sometimes on 1 each yard cutting which can become expensive. This is a very practical dual line trimmer which gets the job done of trimming and edging. Read Less

Answer:
That is the trimmer I had before the Toro 13 inch. I can tell you that the Toro is more powerful and so much easier to use. You just slide the battery in when you need power. I charge it after I'm finished. I am able to get all of my trimming done (more than 1/2 hour). The battery hasn't run out on me yet so I don't know how much longer it would go but it is a large battery.

The 'start' for this trimmer says it has a push start. What is that? How is that different from other trimmers?

Answer:
To start the trimmer you press the mechanism on top of the handle and then the one underneath. I believe this is more for safety. Hope that helps.

It is no different from our other cordless trimmers. You put the battery in, depress both buttons on the handle and go.

Is there a design problem with this trimmer. It seems toro is not trying very hard to get this product to the market place.

The battery is not consistent. You might get one that lasts a long time or, like me, one that lasts about 20 minutes.

So far mine is very good. The head portion is a little heavy but trims very well. Starts great. So easy compared to a gas trimmer. Like the fact that every time you release the trigger it automatically lets out a little line so you do not have to hit it on the ground to let line out. Battery is good with one charge and I have a lot of property to trim. Charges very fast also if needed. So far so good. Read More

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 100 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall very good for my use. This is my 2nd of these. The first is still operational and has been well used and is starting to show signs of serious wear after two seasons. I bought the 2nd to obtain a backup battery (each lasts 20-25 minutes per charge) knowing that I will eventually need to go to the 2nd full unit. Overall I've been quite happy but the unit itself would benefit from being more heavy duty. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Toro string trimmer I have an electric and gas trimmer that in the future will only be used if necessary. The 45V 13 inch string trimmer is the best. Got a great price at Home Depot August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All around solid Great power and battery life. Get the trimming done in half the time of my previous trimmer. August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! I've used it several times and it has worked great every time! I don't mind weed eating my yard now! July 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointing.....Will Be Returning Only runs for approx. 20-25 minutes per charge even if battery is charged for 24hrs. Often stops & starts, often just stops!!. Very disappointing product. I will be returning June 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Battery is terrible Battery died after 15 minutes ! Replacement is $129! Are u kidding me? June 7, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by weed It's too heavy to maneuver. Wife couldn't pick it up at all. May 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Battery Flaw The trimmer worked great for a few months before the battery died. The charger tested fine but it would not show that the battery was connected. The board inside the battery appeared to have gone bad as the transistors had different readings. Since the cost of the battery is near the same cost of the trimmer it is not worth it to replace. Could have been a great tool but its back to gas powered for me. December 29, 2015
