  • Linear low-density polyethylene tubing is made from high-grade polyethylene resins
  • 3-layer Matrix technology for improved strength and flexibility
  • Minimum 2% carbon black UV inhibitor added for resistance to sunlight deterioration

Answer:
No. It will not last. The sun will dry it out and cause it to crack. It gets hard when it gets cold and helps it crack easier under pressure. I don't believe it is made for that.

Answer:
Blue Stripe Drip tubing is designed for use with drip irrigation systems within specific flow and pressure ratings. This product has not been tested for use in any other application and is therefore not recommended for use with solar heat collection systems or any other related application.

Hi Bob.
While this tubing is rated for outdoor and greenhouse use, the pool chemicals will cause it to fail prematurely. I would suggest using a commercial grade tubing available from your local landscape supply, or plumbing supply house.

Answer:
NO, I don't drain should not be any water in it as it has holes for drip fittings so should drain out, if not tube should not be full of water so will have room to let ice expand.

Answer:
When it gets cold turn off the water that goes to the control valve and don't use it for awhile so it will drain out the pressure through the emitters/drippers. If it is above ground, it will freeze easier so it could crack. It cracks often, in my experience from the water pressure, even when less than 25 PSI.

Answer:
Yes, ice would be destructive. Water expands when it becomes ice. The tubing and connectors, effective at water transportation, may not be resist expanding water. Also, other tubing products, ie water hose, become brittle in the winter when water/ice is present. The same would likely occur with the TORO product.

Drip irrigation lines should be drained for winter. It is important NOT to use high pressure air to blow out a drip irrigation zone.

Answer:
No. You poke the holes where you want to run a 1/4" line out where you need it. The tool comes with connectors that plug into the holes you poke in it. You can put as many as you want, but not closer than 6" in my opinion to insure strength. This tubing cracks easily when under pressure when it gets cold.

The holes are not predrilled. An inexpensive puncture tool is available for purchase. It is easy to use and make a perfect puncture hole to add smaller tubing or emitters.

Answer:
No, this product does not have any holes pre-drilled. Use a hole punch (Toro Model 53679) to make holes to attach either emitters directly onto the tubing or to attach ¼" drip tubing using ¼" fittings. Toro does offer drip tubing with pre-installed 1 GPH emitters spaced 18 inches apart (Toro Model 53618.)

Answer:
Yes, but good luck. It does not want to uncoil without kinking. If you need such a long length to cover a large area, consider using PVC pipe and T-joints and running out shorter lengths of tubing to water where you want it. You will not have to repair cracks that develop that will waste water, and if you leave this above the ground in the sun, it will not lasts long. Not reliable in long lengths.

I don't see a problem with doing that. The coupling units are effective and easy to use. You can couple three ways: T-line, Elbow, or Straight-line.

It depends on multiple factors: flat or sloped terrain, number and type of emitters, water flow rate and pressure. Toro has irrigation design services for drip and sprinkler irrigation systems. Click on the “More Info” tab and download the installation guide to learn more about Toro’s irrigation design services.

Blue Stripe 1/2 in. x 500 ft. Drip Tubing is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from works ok I bought this to use with the solar heater for the pool. It works good, but getting it set up was a pain. The tubing was impossible to untangle-after an hour and a half, I cut it to untangle it. It did kink, more than once, in several spots, and is not-so-durable when pulled around even a dull corner; it tore in a couple of spots. It is not as flexible as I had hoped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great hose I have used over 20,000 ft of this hose in my nursery for drip irrigation. The best out there and great service from Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product It worked for its intended purpose. You do have to be very careful that you don't kink it during a bend. If it kinks it is hard to get it not to kink in that same spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Fast delivery. Product arrived safely and as described. Blue line is sturdier and more UV resistant than other hose we've tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from move over pvc! very easy to use. would recommend this product to anyone trying to setup a small garden . it sure beats having to use glues or pvc cements that can be very harmful when applying to pvc pipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations I wanted a product that would deliver water to my plants without waste. I decided that the Toro system would be best. I purchased this larger roll of tubing so that I would have plenty as my gardening skills expanded. The tube is lightweight and seems be durable. It covers easily with mulch. Adding tubing with the connectors is very easy. This system has enabled me to be busy with work and then come home to vibrant, healthy plants.
