I like this timer because it serves 2 basic purposes. You can use it as a timer for a garden hose or for a drip system. I needed to design a drip line system but did not finish the design or buy all the parts. Memorial Day weekend is here and I will be away. We needed plants watered. I inserted 2 AA batteries and then waited for the start time. The next day at 5 AM, while in the house, set the frequency to 24 hours and the duration for 20 minutes. Now it was all set to go as soon as I installed it. I bought a brass manifold with a 4 hose hookup. Then attached the manifold to my hose bib. I used some Teflon tape on the male threads and then attached the garden hose. Since I had already tested the spray pattern on the watering end of the garden hose and determined where to locate the spray head, I was all set to use it. I took a picture and sent it to a neighbor and my daughter to solve their watering problem.

I purchased 3 of these from Home Depot in March 2014 and had to return all of them over a 5 week period due to the timer failing to open. What happens is when it is supposed to open you just hear a clacking sound and it just does not open or just as bad it opens and then will not close while still making the same sound.
We had a flood in the greenhouse with one and we had a week later another that failed to open but at least we caught it before everything dried up. The 3 rd one out of the package failed the first time it was to open. All of these had new out of the package batteries so spare yourself the grief and get something else.

The only drawback is the fact that when you set the timer it delays for the amount of time you set the interval. If you want it to come on twice a day for 35 min., you have to physically set the timer with the delay taken into account. If I want it to come on at six am mad six pm, I have to set it at one of this times.

This is actually a very good unit. Batteries last all summer long. Keeps my grass looking green and healthy with minimal effort.
The only problem is this: The plastic part that screws on to your faucet becomes brittle over time. Every year, I take the unit off for winter and each year the black plastic breaks off. I will be purchasing my 3rd unit in 3 years. If they made that piece out of a stronger material this unit would be a perfect 5 stars.
Due to it breaking every year, this unit, in my opinion only rates 3 stars.

The only timer that I could find that you could set for every 2 hours and an array of times. Perfect for what I wanted it for. I use it to power my misters on the patio to keep the dogs cool. It make such a difference.
