what size power cord should i use?

Asked by: Anonymous
14 Gauge maximum at 100 feet long. 12 Gauge maximum at 150 feet. Anything higher gauge cable and your power cord will catch on fire as it will not be able to support the 12Amps of current.

Customer Reviews

Fall Clean Up Kit is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Things went wrong the first day I opened the box, read the directions, and started to use it. First, just the blower. While using it for the FIRST time, I noticed the blower speed was osculating a LOT. When I went to turn the dial off (down to 0) it didn't shut off. The only way to stop the blower is to unplug it WHILE your holding it! Then there's the collection bin...Read the directions, assembled everything, went to work. The white top blew right off. OK - put it back on, tighten strap as MUCH as I could, went back to work. Top blew off again! After 4 times of this, I finally got it to stay on. Then the hose blew out of the top! I give up! This item is a GREAT idea, but HORRIBLE execution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea, poor execution The blower worked very well until the switch broke during its second use. The blower wouldn't turn on or would flutter on and off as I turned the dial. I am going to return it, but and still trying to decide if I just had a bad one and a replacement is the way to go, or if the design of the electrical system is just bad and I should move on to another product. The collection system is mediocre - the hose kept detaching from the blower. The cloth top that the hose sticks through in the collection bin would periodically blow off or the hose would detach. The reduction of the leaf volume was adequate. The concept is great, but the bulkiness of the blower + hose + limited range with the hose falls short of my expectations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Read this review!!!!! i will start out saying the blower works very well. Its strong and lightweight. Very easy to use. As for the bagging system....not so much. It does work but if you have a large yard and you are looking for something efficient this is not your solution. Go buy a yard sweeper or tractor with collection bags. Don't get me wrong the system works but its a slow process.......and i mean very slow. It took as much time to mulch them as it did to blow them in a pile. If you have a very small yard this solution is perfect. If you have anything over a 1/4 acre this is not your solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toro Package This set up is real nice. I live up in NH and leaf collecting can be a HUGE chore. With this I pile them up with the blower and shred them up into the bin. 16 to 1 ratio cuts down on the amount of bags. last spring i had 45 of the largest lawn bags HD sells. I also take off the reducer for blowing the leaves, far more effective. The metal Impellar chews up every pine cone without effort. This is definately the best bang for the buck!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed Review Love the idea of the leaf collection system, and, overall, it worked mostly OK. I had the same problems as others, with the hose coming out of the top of the container and the cover on the container popping off. The vacuum tube clogged often, even though there didn't seem to be that dense of a clog in it. (And I mean OFTEN, so it was stop-and-go for hours). The suction overall seemed weaker than the previous Toro vac/blower I had last year (but that one caught on fire the third time I used it). I have pesky sycamore leaves to deal with, though, and this unit doesn't handle them all that well. It was great on the curled up cut-leaf maple leaves, however, and the mulching is wonderful to reduce the volume of bags needed. Overall, it could use some more power and a possible redesign of the vacuum tube to reduce clogging where it narrows; the hose could be longer, wheels on the container would make it much easier to roll from pile to pile, and a more secure fit for the hose and cover. Still, it's lots better than all the bending and raking!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We love our new leave blower/mulcher. The blower is fantastic. I love being able to adjust the blower from high to low speeds and many steps in between. The mulcher works great too. Only thing from keeping it from a 5 star rating all around is the collapsible collection bin. It's nice if you are shoveling the leaves in it. However when you attach it to the mulcher it won't stay attached and keeps blowing off. The little bag that comes with it is just fine to use. You just have to empty more often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works better than reviews give credit for I use this to vacuum & shred leaves to reuse as mulch & compost material. It works fine as long as the leaves are dry and loose. I use the hose & canvas cover over a large 33 gallon garbage can with a plastic bag in it. That way I can store the shredded leaves in bags and keep them dry for later use. You can't pull on the hose or it will pop off. As long as you move the garbage can as often as needed, you shouldn't have trouble. I had no problem with the canvas cover blowing off - you've got to sinch the cord tight around the can.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Toro Leaf Blower. Fall Clean Up Kit Toro 51500 Universal Leaf Collector with 8-Foot Hose needs some work. The hose slips out very easy while in use, if Toro added a Velcro synch, that would elevate the hose slipping out of the mess cover. The mesh cover is the other problem, it ties to the outside of the Toro 29210 43-Gallon Gardening Spring Bucket. The bucket is great. If you do not get the mess cover tied tight your leaves will fill up on the outside of the bucket. The only way I can think to fix this is to have solid lip on the inside so it sit firmly on the bucket, so the leaves and debris stay inside the bucket and not piling up on the outside. The Toro 51609 Ultra 12 amp Variable-Speed (up to 235) Electric Blower/Vacuum with Metal Impeller works good with leaves, but really struggles with pine needles. I like the variable knob to control the suction.
