Answer:
If the valve needs to be replaced, you can shut off the water supply and cut the risers below the valve. Screw a PVC fitting (male thread to slip) into the input and output ports on the new valve. Use a "hot glue" (like an Oatey's or Christy's product) to weld the riser tubes into the slip end of the PVC fitting. Wait about 2 hours before turning the water supply back on to pressurize the system.

If you want to convert the zone to an automatic zone, you can replace the manual valve (same procedure as above) with an automatic valve. You will need to make sure the ports are the same distance apart (same valve footprint). If they are not, you can use a section of flexible PVC on the output side of the valve to make a slight adjustment. You could also use a series of PVC fittings to line up the supply and output with the ports on the valve. Once the automatic valve is installed, connect one of the wires (either one) to your neutral (white) wire and the other wire to a colored wire that you would need to connect to your controller/timer. If the system is not wired from the controller to the valve/zone, you can still use an automatic valve and install a Toro 1-zone, battery powered controller to operate the valve/zone without wiring. Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor piece of equipment This part was originally replaced in February of 2016. After less than three months a crack appeared in the housing body, causing a leak. This second one was purchased and we'll see how long it lasts May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lawn Genie Manual Anti-Siphon Valve This was an exact replacement for one that I had installed over 15 years ago. I expect to get another 15 years out of the new one. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sprinkler system valve It was not available at the local Home Depot, but thankfully I could order it on line. It works fine. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what it is Great product, the valve that it replaced lasted 15 years. December 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The right product for the project. This backflow preventer has added distance between the in/out connections compared to other BFP's. This allows for easier plumbing of the lines to the BFP. July 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Replacement for Leaking Valve The valve was exactly what I needed to repair a leaking anti-siphon spinkler valve. The maximum pressure is 150 psi per the instructions and the imprint details on the valve body. Instructions also stated that the working pressure should be 80 psi or less. Too bad this standard sprinkler valve is not stocked in any of the local Home Depots - not even in the summer! December 18, 2012
