If you're like me, you work long, soul crushing hours in middle management , but you still don't make enough money to pay someone to mow your lawn. Enter the Toro Personal Pace Recycler 9000 (I added the 9000 part, because it deserves it).
Again, if you're like me, you know you need the 190cc engine from the get go, as there will be times you let the lawn go just a little too long before mowing. Even when the grass is over a foot high, this little fella powers through it. I also like the rear wheel drive, which gives me power while turning.
For days when you haven't had all your energy drained by your job, the personal pace system is great - you can almost jog with it. For days when you have just enough energy left to drag it out of the garage, the personal pace system lets you go slower. Not to mention I have yet to be forced to pull the chain more than twice to start it.
It's apparently decently fuel efficient. I can mow my 1/3 acre lot with plenty of gas to spare. I believe I've actually mowed twice on the same tank of gas on occasion.
After two years of abuse, and basically no maintenance, it's showing no signs of quitting. I haven't had to tighten anything or adjust anything (other than wheel height, based on how high the grass is).
All in all, I consider it a good buy. I included a picture of the mower next to the German Shepherd that fills my house with dog hair. Expect a new vacuum cleaner review soon.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JFH Worst Mower Warranty Support Ever
I have owned Toro mowers before and been highly satisfied. Not so with this one. Mower is one year 3 months old. Oil was changed twice (Once after break in, once after draining for winter). After mowing front yard for fall seeding (3 hours total), I tried starting mower the next day. It failed to start. When taken to shop, they informed me that oil was burned and low which "probably" caused valve to stick. I informed them I checked the oil before mowing the previous day and it was normal. I believed valve sticking caused oil to burn. Toro and Briggs and Stratton refused to honor warranty (blamed me for not having sufficient oil (even after explanation). This mower was in immaculate condition prior to this problem (also noted by repair shop) and I am very mechanically inclined and take care of my equipment. Very disappointed in both Toro and Briggs and Stratton.

I was really excited to get this mover as I have used similar ones in the past. When I opened it up and started assembling it, the handle and levers felt as if they had been cost reduced over previous models and now they feel a lot more fragile. Additionally the left rear drive wheel fell off the first time I used the mower. I used a 1/2" wrench to put everything back together and have mowed 3 times since without issues but I am always thinking about it now every time I take it out. Briggs engine is OK. I am used to Honda and feel that they restart better if for some reason you need to shut the engine down in the middle of your mow. In my case I needed to because I ran out of gas in the middle of my yard. The engine does not have a very big fuel tank in my opinion.
I do enjoy the blade stop as that was the feature I was looking for. The mower works fine but I am not sure I would be willing to buy again. I am sad about this as all my friends have Toro Mowers and I was looking forward to my own.

Assembly was fairly easy once we found the missing bolt for the handle to deck arm. The rear left wheel height adjustment lever was extremely difficult to use. Had to lift mower completely off the ground as the plastic sleeve would constantly slip off and the lever is very short to grasp. Only used once so far, will monitor. The jury is still out on this one.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TSL Mulching Disappointment
I finally decided to replace my 13 year old Craftsman mower. After much research, I felt this Toro mower fit my needs. The features as smoothness of handling were definitely pluses. The Personal Pace option and Blade Stop were superb, in addition to the ease of starting. However, on the downside, the mulching was terrible. I don't bag the clippings so this was a quality I expected to be high. Not so. After the first mow, I figured I'd give it another shot - - only to be disappointed again. I even implemented the suggestions from Toro in order to improve the mulching. It improved only slightly. My old Craftsman STILL mulches better than this new mower. I really wanted this to work because the other features are very commendable. But.....if it doesn't mulch well, then I guess we had to part ways. I returned the mower after the second mowing.

Out of the box, the mower was easy to assemble. Definitely like the blade stop system and the quick switch from bagging to not bagging feature. Not having a choke is a little unusual; mower starts great now, but do wonder if it will continue to do so as it ages. Still, all in all, very pleased with purchase.
