I bought mine last year and don't recall much at all. I think it took less than a half hour. Installing the handle and chute. Here's a link to the owners manual. https://manuals.toro.com/97461/

As a woman who is just 5' 2", I found most snow blowers heavy and too hard to maneuver. This model is lightweight and easy to move, even through 4-5 inches of snow. The electric start is convenient, since I'm not always sure I can work the pull start. It throws the snow pretty far and it's very easy to move the chute to a different direction. It does clear right down to the blacktop, although I find I have to angle it down just a bit to do that. I have used it a few times in heavy, wet snow and it works well, but it's probably best to clear every 4-5 inches of a big snowfall, since the machine is not that big.

I live in West Michigan where we receive a great deal of lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. I clear a large driveway (30' x 80') and move the snow to the side of the driveway. I also clear a large cement patio. The snow blower has started with one or two pulls and runs well. I have not had the need to use the electric start. This has started easily. This replaced a Toro I had from the 80's. The old machine was a two-cycle engine. The 4 cycle engine is a nice change. I was able to move wet, heavy snow as well as light powder snow. The snow easily reaches beyond the sides of the driveway from the center so I do not have to clear the same snow a second time.

It is an outstanding machine. It starts easily and is amazingly powerful. I like the auger design. It is sturdy but does not damage wood decking. Easily handles 8 in of snow and will do more in 2 passes. I highly recommend it !

Purchased in DEC 2016 We live in an area in ID that gets relatively little snow compared to the mountains...that said we did get a couple of 6" overnight snows and this guy made quick work of them. For sidewalks or areas where you wouldn't have to move the move the snow shoot much...this thing is perfect. It does better with 4" of snow than 2", the handle for the shoot to turn it left and right is a little bit low for me (I am 6' 1" tall) but with a bit of pre-planning I can move the snow so I don't have to turn the shoot too much. Starts crazy easy...did get the electric start version so it would be easier for my wife to start (we're in our 40's); but even she has stopped using that option. We do keep it in the garage though and I'm sure that helps. If we kept it outside where it would be -10...we'd probably use the electric start more often. Assembly was a breeze...out of the box and running in like 15 minutes. One of the best features for us was how small it is...doesn't take up much room in the garage. I actually plan to hang it on a wall off-season. It's relatively light...it feels more like a powered shovel than a cumbersome snow blower. For what I was looking for...this thing is PERFECT!!! We keep a small driveway 40' X 30', 200' of sidewalk, 20' X 20' patio, and 80' of doggy trail opened up with this little guy. It is self propelled by the auger...this is not the same as unit's driven by the wheels. I've owned a couple wheel driven units and one track drive unit when I lived up in the mountains (get serious snow up there) but for our home in the valley our this little blower is perfect. Biggest pile I've moved was 9" of fresh snow...it was a little slower going but it easily handled it. 6" snows are optimal...over the entire winter we probably got 30" of snow...I have zero regrets...quite confident nothing would have been a better fit for us. Thanks TORO...great product!!!

The store told me it had engine oil in it when I bought it from the sales floor. It did not. The engine seized quickly. The store exchanged it promptly. The machine does a good job at clearing snow. It starts easy and is light. I always pull start it. Never had to use the electric start. In most conditions, it throws snow over thirty feet. The only issue I had was the turn knobs that tighten the push handle come loose by vibrating and will fall off in the snow. I managed to find the plastic handles but had to replace the bolts. I put a longer bolt in and put a lock nut on the end so even if the knob vibrated loose, it could not fall off. I have two of these machines and am happy with them.

Assembly was as easy as brewing a cup of coffee, the 518ZE cleared (8inch deep) snow right to the pavement and more importantly started right up at an air temp of -7 Fahrenheit ,didn't need to use the electric start either. Easily delivered the blown snow right where I wanted, and the units light weight made handling no problemo. The exterior of the 518ze was easily cleaned off after the job was completed.Brand new machine, and it gets the work done as expected, oh did I mention it was easy on gas too!

I purchased this model through the home depot website and had it delivered to the store in manhattan, Kansas store where I picked it up then took it to my place to assemble I took it out of the box , laid everything out and noticed that the axle for the wheels was bent and too long for the space provided so I took the wheel off on one side and took the axel off put it in my vise and straightened it reinstalled the axel had to put a spacer on and reinstalled the wheel which works fine now , finished assembled the rest put oil and gas in the unit and started the unit fired up on the second pull it seems to be fine but it really threw me that the axel was bent on a new unit, time will tell next January.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Snow Blower I picked up the last one at Home Depot the day before a 30" storm. I added gas and oil, and it started up on the 2nd pull. I cleared 12" twice and 6" once, and this little machine powered through the white stuff without a problem. It cleaned down to the pavement. It's light and maneuverable. I was a little fearful that it wouldn't be powerful enough to clear 12"+ inches at a time, but I found that if cleared 75% of a full swath, it had no difficulty. I'm very satisfied with this machine. I purchase the electric start version because that's the only model Home Depot had, but based on how easy it starts, I don't think I'll ever need to use it.
