Note: For best results, purchase only the quantity of gasoline that you expect to use in 30 days. Otherwise, you may add fuel stabilizer to newly purchased gasoline to keep it fresh for up to 6 months. It is my understanding that the Electric can always be started via the Recoil and that while you can use the Electric to start the blower routinely it can be used in only the most brutal cold conditions to assist with starting. Am I correct? I understand that the Toro SB employs a certain "explosive" action that makes it very easy to use the recoil only method.

The difference between the two is 721E comes with an electric starter, and 721R doesn't. If you don't mind pulling to start then save some money and just get the 721R. Personally I like the electric starter, the only draw back is you have to plug it in to use the starter.

It is a no frills machine with the exception of the electric start. It has power and it clears the snow right down to the blacktop. Right out of the box it was easy to assemble. I added the oil and gas gave it a couple of pulls and away we went. I was clearing 3" of heavy snow and it threw the snow 25 feet and never plugged. My 2 stage blower would have struggled. When I got to the end of the driveway where the snow plow leaves me a mess because I live on a T intersection this Toro blew right through it. I love the simplicity of this machine. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 721 E Good service from staff at Home Depot as always. As for the snowblower, My feelings buy it. Been thru a few myself (Michigan) this is hands down the best single stage blowers on the market. As stated live in Michigan believe me we know snow, My area averages of 8 feet of snow per year. Even down at end of driveway where the street plow snow ends up the Toro 721 E owned it. Waltzed right thru it. If you're looking for single stage snow blower save yourself many headaches buy this one. Never said this about any other products but if you buy anything else your wasting your money. My humble opinion yes but this from a person who has fought Michigan winters for over 50 years. Wished I had found this one much sooner

Just cleared about 5" of heavy, wet snow and it was throwing it 20+ feet! Have had the blower for 2 days now, lots of snow to move, has not bogged down at all! Also, saw a couple of folks with other blowers cleaning up, they were carrying around wooden poles and having to clean out their clogged blowers. This little guy never clogged once on me! Very happy with this purchase. Originally ordered up the Toro 724 Snowmaster but I received a call from the HD that it was out of stock. So I picked up the 721 E instead, so glad I did. Think the Snowmaster 724 would have been overkill. The 721 E is very powerful, easy to maneuver around and despite it not being self-propelled, I had no problems pushing it through the snow. It just wants to go!

I used to have a two stage unit, and was going to buy another one until my brother told me about a single stage. Looking at the single stage unit compared to some of the monsters out there, I was a little skeptical. Well after using this single stage , there would be no reason to go back to a two stage. First, this unit is so simple to use ,lightweight, versatile ,and the packaging was done so well...hats off to Toro! I also had a pile of snow that was 3.5 feet tall by 8 feet wide and 3 feet deep, that this unit just ate through. Bottom line this unit is amazing!

Liked that it is light so it was easy to load and unload into vehicle by myself. Also, it only took a few minutes of familiarizing myself with it by reading instructions and looking it over then it was a matter of just putting oil and gas in. Primed it and then pulled only 3 times before it started. Only real issue is the wheels could be bigger/beafier because any vehicle tracks that have turned to ice throws it all over the place. But it definitely throws the snow well across the driveway (two car width). First use, 13" of heavy and wet snow and it "plowed" right through it all. And it does a great job of "scraping" the snow right off the concrete.

I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago and we had 10 inches of snow. The first layer of snow was pretty fluffy and shot out so far I had to adjust the chute. The second layer of snow was pretty wet and my husband commented on how far the snow blower tossed the snow. The snow blower was easy to manipulate and it was really powerful. I went out twice that day and spent only 15 minutes each time on a 3 car driveway and pretty long sidewalk. I cannot tell you how happy I am and this weekend 10 more inches so I will be prepared. My back and shoulders are very happy. I am so happy we went single stage because this did the trick and was easy to manuever.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does Not Throw Snow Anywhere Near 35 Feet This snowblower is fine if you only need to throw the snow a few feet away. It is reliable, although it was hard to start the second year. The main problem is that is does not throw the snow more than a few feet away from the snowblower, maybe 5-10 feet. I have a double driveway and the snow must be thrown all to one side 20+feet. I bought this snowblower because Home Depot advertised that it threw snow up to 35 feet away. Forget it. Not even close. It's fine if you have a single driveway and can throw the snow on either side. But if you need a powerful snowblower, look elsewhere. I had to sell it at a garage sale for less than half of what I paid for it, one and a half years later. I'm now researching Sno-Tek, Ariens and other two stage snow blowers that are rated excellent in snow throwing distance by consumerreports.org.
