Answer:
The QZE model has the quick zip deflector control (hence the "QZ" designation in the model number), which allows you to swivel the chute from side to side from a control lever on the handle. On the 721E model you can rotate the deflector chute but you need to reach down to the chute itself to rotate it.

The 721QZE has the Quick shoot control which allows the chute direction to be changed from behind the machine rather than doing it from the front of the unit and the zip deflector allows to change discharge angle in less than one second, other then this it appears no other differences.

Does anyone know if Toro has addressed the problem of the unlevel scraper that causes blowback under the machine to the back? I noticed that a lot of reviews mentioned this problem.

Unless the lower housing is damaged including the lip area where the scraper bar attaches, this machine does not blow any snow back underneath the unit. In fact, this is one benefit over a 2 stage snowblower, where the skid plates need to be adjusted to just keep the scraper bar elevated over the pavement.

The rubber paddle just reaches the pavement to help pull the unit along, and to clear the snow right down to the pavement surface. Just replace the paddle and scraper at the same time when they wear down since they work in concert to keep the paddle at the correct height. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 721 QZE Scrapper dosen't touch ground evenly causing back blow of snow Date 1/3/15: I used my new, purchased 9/26/14, 721 QZE for the first time today in about 2 inches of snow. The machine starts easily, is quiet, powerful and directional adjustments very easy. I have been using Toro Single stage snow blowers for over 30 years. My previous Toro blower, Model CCR3650, still works but is over 12 years old so I purchased this new one in fall of 2014. The new 721QZE was throwing snow in small quantities from the middle back onto the path I just cleared as I moved forward. I suspect that scraper may not be level. I will check it tomorrow in the daylight. I tried several different ways and the back throwing seems to be consistent. I have a relative newly paved driveway; it is 5 years old and has not changed in any way since last winter when I used the CCR3650. I will let you know what I find tomorrow when I check to see if the scrapper is level or not. Update: 1/4/15: I just put a “back light” behind the 721 QZE to see if the scrapper was “level” or touching the “paved” surface, a concrete garage floor, which is level, equally across the entire length of the scrapper. It is not. The light in pictures is showing where the scrapper is not touching the floor. I believe that is what is causing the snow to come back into the path I have just cleared. The snow is being pushed under the scrapper where the light shows through in my photos. Please let me know how this problem can be corrected. January 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As good as advertised My first snowblower (I'm getting older though I hate to admit it) and I was EXTREMELY pleased with its performance. We have some newly installed additional pavement and the time to clear was still only a fraction of what I used to spend on our original walks and drive. The online reviews I read were correct! This is the machine for me! March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great snow blower Ordered this snow blower on line. It was delivered quickly and in good condition. Assembled it in less than 30 minutes. Waited for a month for our first snowfall. First snow was wet and heavy. For a single stage snow blower I thought it did a great job. I was even able to get through the end of the driveway with the big pile of wet road snow which I thought would be a problem. I did have to go slower and take less snow, but it did great for not being a big two stage blower. I REALLY like the way the snow shoot is controlled on the handle. I was able to move the snow around to aim it wherever I wanted. This was MUCH better than the typical hand crank and was well worth the extra money. I bought this model for the electric start for my wife, but the shoot control makes it well worth it. December 31, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Power Clear 721 QZE 21 in. Single-Stage Gas Snow Blower Good features for the price, but some blowback of snow under the machine. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Toro Power Clear 721 QZE Don't walk...RUN to buy one of these snow blowers. Ordered online and arrived in a short time. Easy easy setup, added oil and gas and started right up with no issues. Used a couple of times now and wow...this snow blower is fast. The fact that it makes clearing snow fun is what I wanted. This snow blower is very powerful. It has one of the biggest engines for a single-stage snow blower. I did my research and watched many videos on different brands and styles (one and two stage) of blowers. I initially thought I needed a 2 stage but that is overkill in my area. My neighbors who have 2 stage blowers don't want to be embarrassed by pulling theirs out when we get less than 6 inches. I pull mine out no matter the accumulation and clear twice as fast. Also...as a bonus the 721 QZE has an electric start which I haven't used yet but it may come in handy at some point. This starts so easy and is HIGHLY recommended. January 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good product Easy to assemble and use. Like Toro product (have toro lawnmower) bought this for electric start to replace older recoil snow blower January 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply the best snow machine I have removed snow professionally and have used many different snow blowers. I believe this one is the best that you can buy because of ease of use and it's ability to remove snow more proficiently than any other machine I have ever used. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Machine Product is excellent. Assembly was easy and took no more than 20 minutes. The only criticism I have is the oil filler. It could be in a better location. The angle is a little messy and hard to get to. I have only needed to use once but cleaned effortlessly in a wet heavy snow down to the concrete. December 23, 2015
