No. The Home Depot description suggests that the drive speed is "variable" and the unit is driven by the wheels, which is unfortunately why I bought one. I later discovered that "Variable" speed means you pull the bar back and the unit goes very fast. Period. The bar is not a speed control.

No. There's no drive on this one, but the blades/paddles will pull it forward when engaged. First time I used it it almost took off away from me, but I'm used to it now.

Answer:
The unit is propelled by the paddles which are always engaged on the ground due to an adjustable pivoting scraper bar. The paddles pull the unit forward; it is not a wheel driven machine.

Answer:
Pretty easy. Just fill it with Oil that comes with it and gas. Putting on the snow chute is a bit tricky, but I am not the most handy and I got it done.

Answer:
This machine has a manual chute control. There is a ‘Y’ shaped handle that is attached to the chute itself that you turn which will change the chute direction.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 140 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Now that I have it...there will be no snow Snowblower arrived via UPS in damaged shape. The handle was bent down by the attachment to the unit. I had to make a decision on whether to bend it back and jam it together or deal with the hassle of returning it. I choose to bend it back. It worked but machine is a bit off line. I think it will work fine, but I do not recommend getting it delivered. Pick it up at store. No snow yet, but once I filled it with Gas and Oil (Oil comes with it), it started up no problem. Quality is a concern as it feels a bit cheaply made and plasticy . December 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Power Clear 721 R 21 in. Single-Stage Gas Snow Blower The power clear 721 R21 snow blower, light weight and easy to start every time. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Snowblower Sturdy construction. Protected fro rust. Powerful four stroke overhead valve engine. Right size for fast snow removal. Maneuvers like a lawn mower. Discharge chute only requires mounting, but easy to do. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New Toro = No Snow :( Set up was very easy. Have had one wet snow and my new baby was quick to start and clear me a path. Since then floating in the high 40's here in the Chicagoland area........just b/c I bought a new snow blower. I expect this to last 15 years or more so I will get my chances. December 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Machine! 32" in 36 hour period in Northern VA this year. Did several driveways in my neighborhood in addition to 200 yds of sidewalk with no problem. My neighbor purchased a big kludgy auger blower which seemed cumbersome and difficult to maneuver. I was clearly driving the Ferrari while he was driving the sedan. April 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Can't handle the Chi I feel like this was money wasted.I made the mistake of buying this in the summer so by the time the first snow fell it was too late to get my money back. It snowed about 4 inches of wet snow which kept getting clogged causing my wife to stop every ten feet or so to clean the wet snow out. The next 3 times I used this snow blower the snow was between 4 to 8 inches and each time this machine struggled. I'm through, we give up on this snow blower. I'm giving it away and next winter we are buying a real snow blower that can handle Chicago winters. February 28, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good blower but seriously lacks traction This snow blower would be great if my house was not on a hill. However, the wheels are way too small and I have had this slide down my hill numerous times and it is a bear to push up despite the supposed front wheel drive. I looked into buying chains for the wheels but none are made for this size. If you have any sort of uphill or downhill blowing to do, make sure you buy a blower that has much bigger wheels that actually will grip the ground. March 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Really great unit Picked this up pending a month ago snowstorm that didn't come. Finally got to use it to move 6"+ of heavy wet stuff. It chewed up anything I ran it through without hesitation and was fairly easy in throwing the snow precisely where I wanted to. Even though the snow was heavy this unit could throw it really far. It cleans down to the concrete really well. Only thing holding it back from 5 stars is lack of chute control on the handle. It was so enjoyable to use that I kept going and helped a few neighbors clear out as well. I didn't pay the extra cost for the E model but starting was effortless so fine with me. February 2, 2016
