No. The Home Depot description suggests that the drive speed is "variable" and the unit is driven by the wheels, which is unfortunately why I bought one. I later discovered that "Variable" speed means you pull the bar back and the unit goes very fast. Period. The bar is not a speed control.

No. There's no drive on this one, but the blades/paddles will pull it forward when engaged. First time I used it it almost took off away from me, but I'm used to it now.

Answer:
The unit is propelled by the paddles which are always engaged on the ground due to an adjustable pivoting scraper bar. The paddles pull the unit forward; it is not a wheel driven machine.

Pretty easy. Just fill it with Oil that comes with it and gas. Putting on the snow chute is a bit tricky, but I am not the most handy and I got it done.

This machine has a manual chute control. There is a ‘Y’ shaped handle that is attached to the chute itself that you turn which will change the chute direction.

The assembly was easy other than the chute required a little guesswork as the directions aren't entirely clear though it's basically common sense. I used it for the 1st time on about 6" of relatively light snow. It threw the snow roughly 10' I'd guess and cleared to the pavement well. The chute is easy to move around. The pull start works well too. I'll be curious to see how it handles some heavy, wet snow this winter but so far so good. My driveway is pretty average size for a house in the middle of a neighborhood (maybe 40'x40' and this blower made it a whole lot easier to clear and only took about 20 min the 1st time.

Be sure to follow instructions on adding oil (provided) and gas that needs to be clean (not old!) for best results! I would suggest using a zip tie to hold the ignition key in place so it doesn't get lost, especially during the off season! I used it during the 6 inch snow storm we got last weekend....cleaned the driveway easily and self-propelled very easily! Love my new Toro!!!!

I bought one of these last week, and used it for the first time this weekend on 4 inches of snow or less. As with all Toro Products, it started on the first pull, went great. Performed well at tossing show. However the product has one silly flaw. The use of Pt#32112-14, name: NUT-PUSH. Why on a $500 dollar blower they decided to use these little push nuts and not regular screw on nuts is beyond me. I am still trying to decide if to take it back to the store or not. I will think about if for a day. I am disappointed by this. I dont want to be searching for the nut so I can bang the wheel back on every time I have to go out.

I purchased this snow blower in the middle of November 2016 and was able to first use it in the middle of December 2016. The power and overall function was great, at first. I was really upset though when the Nut Push on one of the wheels came loose popped off and then the wheel popped off. I was unable to locate the nut push and now I am stuck without a wheel. This is very unacceptable given this was the first time I have used the product. If the their was a functioning wheel this would be a good product, but given there is no mobility without two wheels, this almost defeats the purpose of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for a 1-stage Bought this for my 6-car driveway in the hills of northern Worcester County, Massachusetts. Quickly learned that when they forecast 6-10 inches, we get 11". Still, no regrets with this machine. Saved a lot of money over a two-stage. Big storms take 2 passes, and the snow banks caused by stret plows take about four passes... no big deal. Plowing the grassy hill to the woodpile would be easier with a 2-stage, but this works fine with a bit of extra pushing. Nana would do better with a 2-stage, but if you're of average fitness this 1-stage is a perfect little blower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this thing! We just got wallopped in MD with 26 inchess so far. My neighbor had me scared saying- just hours before storm hit- we should return this blower for a bugber one. (We just mobed from CA) But we figured we give it a try. Glad we did. This puppy has some guts and cut right through everytime. We went out once after about 9 or 10 inches and only problem was it threw snow so far it was hitting neighbors house. Went out again just now- over a foot and it was a breeze. Only issue was letting my wife try. Now she knows the shoveler is much harder job!
