Does this mower pick up grass clippings and small leaves that have fallen into crevices where you edged?

Asked by: TexasMowinggirl58
Yes, it does a good job of vacuuming up clippings and leaves if you have the bag attached. Without the bag, the mower is in "mulching mode" and will simply blow the items around under the mower deck.

DOES THE ROCK /STICK DEFLECTOR GET ROLLED UNDER THE MOWER WHEN BACKING UP ?

WHEN PULLING THE MOWER BACKWARDS DOES THE ROCK / STICK DEFLECTOR GET ROLLED UNDER THE MACHINE ? IF IT DOES THE MOWER WILL BE HARD TO PULL AND ONCE YOU TRY TO GO FORWARD YOU WIND UP HAVING TO LIFT UP ON THE BACK OF THE MACHINE TO GET IT TO FLIP BACK TO THE REAR OF THE MOWER WHERE IT BELONGS . MANY MANUFACTURERS TEND TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY ON FIXING THIS PROBLEM. IT IS EASILY FIXABLE (BY DESIGN) IS THIS MOWER PRONE TO IT ?
Asked by: JOESCHMO
This issue is unlikely to occur on this rear wheel drive mower as the deflector is placed further from the blade than designs of other manufacturers.

163cc vs the 190cc

I have used a personal pace recycler that had a 190cc engine and was very impressed with the way the mower cut through tall wet grass. I was thinking of buying a 20333 but noticed that it has a 163cc motor. I am concerned it won't be powerful enough. Can you tell me how much of a power loss I should expect. The mower that I tried last fall (2015) was 3 or 4 years old.
Asked by: GVP
I just purchased the 20333 and it has a Briggs & Stratton 7.25 ft. lb. gross torque 190cc OHV engine. This is an older design but has good power for this size mower.

Customer Reviews

Recycler 22 in. Personal Pace Variable Speed Gas Self Propelled Mower with Blade Stop System is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 2520.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lawn Recycler Extraordinaire If you're like me, you work long, soul crushing hours in middle management , but you still don't make enough money to pay someone to mow your lawn. Enter the Toro Personal Pace Recycler 9000 (I added the 9000 part, because it deserves it). Again, if you're like me, you know you need the 190cc engine from the get go, as there will be times you let the lawn go just a little too long before mowing. Even when the grass is over a foot high, this little fella powers through it. I also like the rear wheel drive, which gives me power while turning. For days when you haven't had all your energy drained by your job, the personal pace system is great - you can almost jog with it. For days when you have just enough energy left to drag it out of the garage, the personal pace system lets you go slower. Not to mention I have yet to be forced to pull the chain more than twice to start it. It's apparently decently fuel efficient. I can mow my 1/3 acre lot with plenty of gas to spare. I believe I've actually mowed twice on the same tank of gas on occasion. After two years of abuse, and basically no maintenance, it's showing no signs of quitting. I haven't had to tighten anything or adjust anything (other than wheel height, based on how high the grass is). All in all, I consider it a good buy. I included a picture of the mower next to the German Shepherd that fills my house with dog hair. Expect a new vacuum cleaner review soon.

The B&S Side valve engine is garbage, this is NOT an OHV engine, it has no cast iron sleeve, aluminum cylinder wall , and will burn oil in no time and eventually have motor failure. Mine lasted only 5 years with light use. I have a 25 year old commercial Toro that is excellent. Night and day from this mower. Plastic everywhere, no motor speed control, small gas tank on an inefficient motor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Biggest Piece of Junk Save your money and buy a better product. Or even better, if you're feeling charitable, just write a check for $400 to a local food bank. It would be less frustrating and more satisfying than purchasing this piece of junk. I bought this in the spring of 2015 and the first thing I noticed was it took 3-4 pulls to start. My old craftsman of 10 years, started on the first pull every time and only cost $159. Only reason I got rid of it was a leak in the gas tank. Today my drive system decided to stop working. Can't believe after 1-1/2 summers of use I now have to go lay out another $400 on a lawn mower. Should have listened to buddy who bought the same mower and returned it after on use for a Honda. He said he could tell in mowing the Toro was a low quality product that wouldn't last.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Mower Warranty Support Ever I have owned Toro mowers before and been highly satisfied. Not so with this one. Mower is one year 3 months old. Oil was changed twice (Once after break in, once after draining for winter). After mowing front yard for fall seeding (3 hours total), I tried starting mower the next day. It failed to start. When taken to shop, they informed me that oil was burned and low which "probably" caused valve to stick. I informed them I checked the oil before mowing the previous day and it was normal. I believed valve sticking caused oil to burn. Toro and Briggs and Stratton refused to honor warranty (blamed me for not having sufficient oil (even after explanation). This mower was in immaculate condition prior to this problem (also noted by repair shop) and I am very mechanically inclined and take care of my equipment. Very disappointed in both Toro and Briggs and Stratton.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Toro personal pace machine The mower worked great had good power and 3 months later the self pace stopped and it was tough to push the machine. This is my second toro and the drive was stronger on the new one until today. When the machine was left on in the middle of my driveway by ups the plastic piece above the air filter was broken and 2 of the plastic pieces were broken and the blue shied on the blade stop was loose and later fell off. I would still recommend the machine.

THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THE WHEELS AND THEIR ADJUSTMENT TO THE HEIGHT TO CUT. THERE IS A LEVER ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. VERY HARD TO MOVE TO THE DESIRED POSITION. SECOND THE SHUT OFF BUTTON IS SO HARD TO TURN OFF THE MACHINE THAT I HAD TO USE THE HANDLE OF A SMALL WRENCH TO TURN OFF THE MOWER. IN MY OPINION NOT VERY MUCH THOUGHT WENT INTO THE DESIGN OF THIS PRODUCT.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cable snaps at 3 year mark I purchased this mower in Sept 2013 and the brake cable snapped just a couple days shy of 3 years. I cut my grass every 1 to 2 weeks between April to October and never made a cable adjustment. I am very disappointed that a wire cable is not a reliable part. I'm scratching Toro from my list of reliable manufacturers.

I had some gift cards and needed a new mower, so I bought this mower on 11/26/2015. After using it for the remainder of the season I drained the gas out and stored it for the winter. I took it out in November (11/3/2016) to complete the season and much to my disgust the mower did not operate. I changed the air filter, the spark plug and added a fuel stabilizer as suggested and it still did not start. So I had to bring it in to a repair shop on a unit that is less than 1 year old. I piece of garbage!!! Now I have to try and get it covered by Toro or get my money back which will take when all I wanted to do was cut my lawn with my less then 1 year old mower.
