Is there an advantage of having two blades as opposed to three in this size mower?

Asked by: Ranch
Yes. Two blades will generally give a more even (i.e. professional), cut. This is due to higher blade-tip-speed at a given RPM (i.e. longer blade in a two blade configuration covers more distance - circumference - than shorter blade in a 3 blade configuration at the same RPM). Additionally, it is easier to adjust two blades to be the same height than three and to keep them cutting at the same height. Decks on two blade systems generally are more ridged than three blade decks facilitating a more even cut. Three blade systems allow for the use of wider decks in commercial applications and whenever a larger mower is desired. note: Type of grass to be cut, height of cut, density of grass, terrain - hilly versus smooth, moisture content of grass, sharpness of blades, etc. all play into "quality" of the cut often more so than mower/deck type alone.

TimeCutter SS4225 42 in. 22 HP Zero-Turn Riding Mower with Smart Speed is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 191.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from very good zero turn lawn mower This is my second toro zero turn lawnmower. I hope they've improved from the 4220 zero turn that I'd bought 8 years ago. The drive shaft broke in the wheel hub. impossible to fix. So I had to buy a new one. And it appears that toro may have fixed the problem of broken drive shafts. The toro mechanic said that this has happened several times that he's known of. It looks like toro has added a reinforced arm to keep the over all weight off the drive shaft. My fingers are crossed that if works. Otherwise this lawnmower is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fun I just bought this mower and could not help myself but to cut the yard as soon as I offloaded it. It started up once the gas got in the carb, it took 3 turns of the key. After the first start up it started on the first key turn every time. It was very easy to operate - kind of scary at first (my first zero turn) riding lawnmower. I am very happy with this decision to buy this lawn mower. Very good price and the quality seems to be very good. I will have to adjust the seat but it appears to be very easy to adjust.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am Very Happy (With some Concerns) I am very Happy with the purchase of this Mower. It Cuts very well. (Mulching Kit Installed) The only concern I have is with the Fans on the Drive Pulleys for the Back Tires. My neighbor has the same unit and a Gumball got into the Fan and destroyed it. (Not even 5 Months Old) The Fan Blades are Plastic and it seems they can be easily Damaged. Other then that issue it seems to be a Great Mower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Mowever - A couple of things to get used to First time owning a zero turn. Chose this mower for the features and quality for the price. Bought late in the season with only a handful of opportunities to use before snow. Mower performs and handles well and didn't take long to get used to the controls. Cut performance is excellent and really got a lot of good use out of the bagging option picking up a yard full of leaves this fall. Also purchased with the Mulching Kit. Performance was good converted to a mulching deck, but have to say the time to convert could be a little shorter as there are several pieces that need added. Auto choke has worked well with no issues. I don't know if this is something with zero turns or specifically with this mower, but the only complaint that I have is you can't park the mower and leave it running to empty the bagger. If you sit for a couple of minutes you risk burning the grass. Found a few burnt spots in my yard after doing so. Otherwise extremely happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower I purchased the mower with great reservations. I had never been on a zero turn before. I have a Toro dealer 2 miles from my house. Went there and had a demonstration. After riding around the parking lot a few times deceided to purchase. Got to say love the mower. Ordered the hour meter through Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 42" toro I haven't use it but three times and so far I love it.Still getting use to zero turn mower. Read about some people would not recommend it for a unlevel yard with hills. My yard is just that I live in central Arkansas and my yard doesn't have a level spot. So far I love it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I had bought one years ago! Purchased mine from a local power equipment dealer early last season, and simply wish I had done that years ago. It has reduced my mowing time by about 30 minutes for my one acre lot. Love the way it can maneuver around trees and in close areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Machine This is a solid machine and is an ease to operate. The delivery people were excellent and getting started was easy. Learning to drive in a straight line and navigate my terrain is a different story buy I am sure practice will make perfect...!
