The unit works great. The weather station stops irrigation when it rains and adjust the seasonal adjustment perfectly. I can see how many users could become frustrated with the software that is used once to load up data weather data. Override the suggested run times with historical run times that you have used in past summers, then everything will work out fine.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fred Not to be used with well pump
The toro unit is a good unit if you use it with city water. But if the intended use is with a well pump system it will not work. The pump relay output is not strong enough to trigger the pump relay as the predecessors were. Too bad as I liked the idea of having a smart system

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by desertdweller Terrible timer. Buy anything but a Toro
The timer worked great for the last several months. Then this week the timer won't shut off zones. I haven't made any adjustments to the system so it should continue to operate as set but won't. I woke up to a lawn that had been watered for 5 straight hours. This evening I woke up to check on it after it was supposed to have shut off and found it still running. I observed it through the scheduled time and when the time expired it restarted itself over and over. I had to manually shut the system down.

Needed the primary valve control for my system, had a problem loading the software on my computer because of a computer virus I had. Install was easy and now it just does what it is suppose to do

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by kbeckett Does not work! Do not buy!
As a software expert, I first have to say that the software portion of this product is buggy. I had a lot of trouble getting it to recognize my zip code and download the weather data. Once it did, the average temperatures were DEFINITELY INCORRECT for my area (92610).
Much more importantly, the sensor DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. Despite the sunniest, hottest, Southern California weather that we've had in years, this piece of junk insists on setting the seasonal adjustment to 60% no matter what I do. Ironically, it thought our weather should be in 70's, so 100+ weather should have made it water >100% if anything. However, I now have a brown lawn despite checking things every few days, forcing the seasonal percentage back to 100%, and making sure the sensor was in the sun all day long. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MrGreen Works like a charm!
I found the unit to be simple to install and program. It seems to accurately modify my watering schedule based on the weather conditions and my lawn looks healthier than every other lawn in my neighborhood. Like all the other Toro products I have purchased or used over the last 30 years, the product has met my high expectations.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by alangski Software is so bad it breaks a good idea
The idea behind this products is great, internet weather tempered with your own climate monitoring system. The problem is the software is broken, and the support people told me the developer is on to other projects and won't be fixing this.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dustmaster Be wary, so far mine is not working right...
Bought this type of irrigation system (weather driven) because there was a grant from the local water department to install these as a water saving measure. There were no reviews anywhere on the internet about this system to help decide if this was worth the money and effort. If I'm the first one, I can say right now that you should save your money until Toro can work the problems out of this system, if they actually admit there are problems...
Without going into detail, the system does not work as advertised and I succeeded in browning out 1/8 acre of lawn and most of my plants by relying on the weather sensor to adjust the watering times when the weather got hotter. Contacting Toro customer service has been a huge frustration and they treat me like I'm a moron who has never seen a sprinkler before (I figure I've installed at least 10 total systems in 25 years). Like every other CS system in this country, all they will give you is canned answers out of a book (i.e. was the system plugged in to a power outlet, etc.... really????).
The software and the hardware for this system are to blame and I seriously doubt Toro will admit that there are problems. Long story short, the software bases a watering schedule off local weather data (from a zip code) and develops a schedule that is supposed to be based on the highest demand for the year. Supposedly, the weather sensor makes adjustments to the base schedule with daily weather readings. For me, when the temperatures got hotter, instead of adding time to the watering cycle to compensate, it actually shortened watering times.
I am trying to work with Toro to resolve this and if they own up to having a problem with this system, I will try and edit my review to reflect that. In the meantime, stay away from this system. You're better off watching the TV news and manually setting your sprinkler timer to match weather conditions.
