Product Overview

Our Pressurized Biological Pond Filter with UV Clarifier is a natural and complete garden pond stabilizing system that cleans pond water while it adds essential bacteria needed for a healthy environment. Here’s how it works. First the water is drawn through an opening and passes the UV clarifier which sterilizes the water. Then it’s cleaned as it’s forced through two filter sections a coarse filter and a fine filter. When the water leaves the filter it passes over the bio balls and picks up positive bacteria that adds to the pond’s natural balance. The good bacterium is a natural stabilizer which balances the nitrates that fish waste generates. The Pressurized Biological Pond Filter with UV Clarifier should be used in ponds up to 1200 Gal. This filter should be used with a pump.

  • Filter pads and bio balls included in set
  • One 9-Watt UV light is included with set
  • Safe for fish and plants
  • 12 month filter life
  • Compatible with 3/4 in. tubing and 1 in. tubing
  • Easy to use
  • For ponds up to 1200 Gal.
  • Includes a coarse and fine filter

Answer:
I have an older one connected in tandem with a new one and the old filter leaks at the lid. I assume because of age and wear (it's about 5 years old). I tried plumbers tape but what actually stopped the leak was my old rubber strap wrench that was used on oil filters from my car. It adjusts out far enough to go around the lid and does a great job.
If your pond is draining that fast from the filter though

If your pond is draining that fast from the filter though you should see water absolutely spraying out when you turn the pump on. Sounds like they may have damaged threads.

Answer:
Hello. There are a few reasons that these units will leak. The first thing we would check for would be the o ring. Sometimes over time from the pressure the o rings become inflated and no longer seal properly. The next thing to look for would be the tank itself. You may need to check for any cracks around the threads at the top of the tank. Have you checked these areas?

For me, removing the gasket from the lid, and reinstalling it backwards, (so that the flat edge is exposed as opposed to the curved edge) did the trick for me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The best yet This is the second time I am purchasing this filter. The first one lasted almost two years which is way better than the other lower models I have purchased in the past. October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but not for 1200 GPH The only problem I had with it was that it leaks no matter how well-assembled everything is, and how tight it is. It simply won't filter 1200 gallons per hour. Maybe it would be able to filter up to 800 or 900 gph. July 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent...my water has never been clearer... I do still use chemicals! It was easy to install. You do need your own tubing! I still use chlorine, but my water is better than ever! May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Pond Filter - What a Difference! My 10 year old pond filter finally died, so I bought this as a replacement. For the first time in 10 years, my pond is crystal clear! That is due to the superior filtering and the ultraviolet light - my previous filter did not have ultraviolet and the filters were a bit smaller. What is remarkable is this filter cost the same as my old one! The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is the filters are a bit difficult to remove for cleaning. You have to unscrew a connection, then lift the filters out with a plastic pipe than runs through them. Not too bad once you get the hang of it. I would buy another one of these if this one were to fail. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! The lid is some what hard to open because it large and (slippery after being in the pond) I had a slight problem with the seal, but used a vasoline and no more problem. Cleared my 800-900 gallon pond all summer. It does float so I would stick it under my make shift bridge. I would not put it outside of the pond for fear of it leaking. The only real complaint is that Home depot does NOT sale the replacement bulbs. November 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cleaned pond fast took about 10 hours water was sparkling clear well recommended product March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good filter for my pond Filters great , uv light great for stopping algae growth. February 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Water is crystal clear !!! All I can say is I haven't lost a fish yet since putting in service. The uv light is awesome. I actually wondered if the uv light did anything until it accidently got unplugged once, wow what a difference in water clarity it makes. The filters seem to be lasting haven't had to clean it in 4 months now, but I am the kind of person who believes in over filtering I have this on a smaller pond. Only complaint is you have to make sure filter lid is tight and on correctly or it will def leak. I found that if you open it to check filters when you put lid back on don't do it with water in it or leaks every time. The canister and lid could be made better or I would of gave it 5 stars.
