Customer Questions & Answers

can i have fish in my pond with this filter?

Asked by: donita
Yes you can have fish. I have 7 regular gold fish that spend all year long in the pond. It is only a 85 gallon pond but this is why we have this filter. It keeps the water clean for the fish and help them catch the bugs. This pump and filter run 24/7 all year long and must keep the water moving so as not to let the pond freeze preventing the fish from getting any oxygen. I use a different head that lets more water flow in the winter.

Do you just place this in the water, or how do you set it up?

Asked by: MVB
Assemble out of the water once put together per instructions then find the outlet your going to pug into but don't until it is submerged. Hook up the spitter on the side. When in a permanent place at the bottom of the pond with only the shower head sticking out of the water then plug it in. You can adjust the amount of water to the head or the spitter by turning the control knob on the two way adaptor. Then stand back and enjoy the beauty and sound of running water.

How to keep water clear

Hello, Thanks for the previous answer. I have now been running this pump/filter 22 hours a day for the past 3 weeks but the water is not yet fully clear. Water is clean and does not smell but just not clear. My pond is only 18 inches deep but I cannot see my gold fish unless they swim to the surface! I even tried 'Total Pond water clarifier' yesterday but of no avail. I clean the filter ever 3 or 4 days and there is some green moss each time. I have attached a photo of my pond for your review. I have about 6 small fish which look like Gold fish. Any suggestion welcome! Thanks in advance

I use a 9V UV bulb in addition to my filter and the water stays clear. The UV kills the bacteria and keeps the moss from growing. I have Gold Fish water Hyacinths and that plant that looks like seaweed that my fish eat. I've had my pond up and running for almost two years and never feed the fish. They were the size of a nickel when I bought them and now people think they're Koi when they see them! Good luck with your pond.

What may be my approximate electricity cost if I run this 24 hours a day?

Total Pond 300 GPH Pond Pump with Filter Kit Model # MF13015Internet # 202278961Store SKU # 347161 I live in Aurora, IL. I am looking at a very approximate range like: 10$ a month or $50/month or $100 plus/month. Not looking for a precise amount. I have a small 150 gallon pond with fish in it. Thanks!

approximately the same as if you leave you television on 24/7. I have an 85 gallon pond. $10.00 maybe and that's stretching it.

This kit is more elaborate and sturdy and took a few minutes to put together but wow it's doing a good job. What a nice surprise to see a beautiful display of water from the fountain assembly. I had to adjust it down a bit as my pond isn't very big and it was spraying right out of the pond :) but so pretty. Love this kit and so glad I got it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up We had to move our fish to our new house and needed a quick pool and filter for them - bought a stock tank and this filter kit. Filter kit and pump set up without tools. The power cord is long enough to reach my existing electrical outlet. For your safety, always use a GFCI outlet. "BioBalls" were included in the kit for harboring beneficial bacteria. An adjustable diverter valve was also included in kit to run water to additional item like my turtle "spitter". Works well enough that I am planning to move it to a permanent water feature later on. Water is 14" deep in the picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Going on a year of use. Cleaning can be easy with the right routine for your particular set-up. Only pain is taking the pump out to take the filter box out for cleaning. I clean mine once a week during winter months, every 2-3 days for summer months. I'm guessing humidity has a lot to do with that. Overall good product.
