Product Overview

The Toter residential heavy-duty Wheeled Trash Can Cart has a molded-in axle for easy tilt/roll and sturdy maneuvering over any terrain. It was manufactured with an advanced rotational molding process that uses medium-density polyethylene. This allows for added rigidity and extra material in critical wear areas, creating a rugged rim at the top edge and wear strip at the bottom of the container. The trash can's large footprint and aerodynamic design create a superior wind and set-down stability.

  • Universal design compatible with automated and semi-automated curbside collection waste truck lifters
  • Attached lid to keep contents secure
  • Distinctive greenstone finish that masks normal wear and tear, and keeps your trash can cart looking new for years

This can is fairly light weight, but solidly manufactured. It weighs less than 10 pounds. I can lift it without any problem.

Answer:
I did not weigh the can but it is much heavier than the cheaper trash cans. However it has large wheels making it very easy to move/handle. If you think YOU have to lift it, buy a lighter trash can.

Answer:
I'm guessing but I would say 15 to 20 pounds empty. They are substantially made. The material is much thicker than my old wheeled cans. With wheels as large as they have, they are easy to move even when loaded, if that is what you are concerned about. I hope that helps.

We live in an urban environment and need to lock up the cans. Is there a handle or hinge in the back that would allow us to do that?

Answer:
Yes. You can't see it from the photo, but where the lid is attached in the back (by 2 hinges) is a long bar going across that is the handle you use to maneuver it. A chain could easily be attached at this bar to secure it without damaging the can.

You could run a chain through the handle on this one, or the silver bar half way down the front that the truck hooks into for hoisting.

Answer:
There is a handle that you could wrap a chain around - obviously if they wanted the can bad enough they could cut through the polyethylene. Also note, there is not a lock on the lid...just to be clear. Hope this information helps!

The City of Boston requires "Open Top" Barrels for the collection of seasonal yard waste, such as leaves. I'm thinking I would want to remove the lid entirely on collection day to avoid possible rejection.

I wound up going with the Rubbermaid Brute 32 gallon barrel. I called the City of Boston Public Works, and they seemed I'd be better off going with a barrel that didn't "look" too heavy. Yard Waste has to be hoisted manually, vs the other trash and recycling that they use the machine for.

I would check with the city, or your neighbors to see what they will be doing? If it manual pick up, you may be able to just bungee cord the lid to the body?

Betty, there are two handles towards the back of the can and lid, that are easy to grip. Simply pushing down and wheeling forward will do the job. Toter has the industry's best tilt-to-roll ratio and easy maneuverability that creates an effortless roll to the curb. Hope that answers your question!

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 320 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Toter 32-Gal This 32 gallon wheeled trash can Meets my City's requirement. Is very stable and rolls to curb without issue. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty Great small trash can. Heavy duty plastic, not like the ones the trash service provides for free. Be aware of the indentation on the front of the can where the lift handle is. It cuts down on the interior space available for trash. I can easily fit 2 - 13gal bags of trash inside, which works for me most of the time. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Garbage can! Very sturdy outdoor garbage can. Would like a bigger one but needed one with certain dimensions to fit in a certain spot and this is the only one I could find. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by well made this is very well made and the right size for our garbage pick up, I know this will last a long time July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 32- gallon TOTER wheeled trash can This Toter wheeled trash is just perfect for my needs. It is very sturdy and just the right size, not huge, but not too small either. I chose the type with the attached lid; the lid fits snugly, but does not have to snap on which is good because I have a bit of difficulty with my hands. It is easy to wheel in and out of the garage. It hold just enough for our twice-weekly trash pick-up. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great slum design and well built There isn't room in my garage for a large trash cart, so when I found this one, I was elated. Not only does it allow enough room to park the cars in the garage, but the refuse truck can pick up the cart mechanically which saves time and energy for them. Heavy duty construction will allow for years of service - a little pricey, but in this instance you get what you pay for. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy duty can is a bit heavy. The only negative about this well built can is its weight - 20 lbs. June 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy Trash Can This trash can is easy to roll up our driveway and very sturdy. Even on windy days, it doesn't topple over. June 14, 2016
