Product Overview

The Toter residential curbside heavy duty trash cart is a 2-wheeled garbage container with a molded-in axle and attached lid. Toter carts are manufactured through their patented advanced rotational molding process using medium density polyethylene. This allows for added rigidity and extra material in critical wear areas, creating their patented rugged rim at the top edge and the wear strip at the bottom of the container. Toter carts offer a service life expectancy virtually double that of other brands and each comes with a 10 year warranty. They are ANSI certified, the preferred choice of professional haulers and are compatible with automated or semi-automated collection waste truck lifters. For the homeowner, the industry's best tilt-to-roll ratio and easy maneuverability create an effortless roll to the curb. The large footprint and aerodynamic design create a superior wind and set-down stability. The trash carts are available in 32 Gal., 48 Gal., 64 Gal. and 96 Gal. sizes. A distinctive Greenstone textured finish masks normal wear and tear and keeps your Toter looking new for years.

Answer:
Absolutely not
However, it is easy to add a latch or a long lock
We are on a farm, surrounded by 900 acres of wildlife refuge, and have many critters around
We've latched the lid and chained the can to a fence since the bigger animals will take the whole darn can

Answer:
There is no latch on the lid - it is basically a hinged cover. Problem w/a latch occurs where there is automated collection.
Some folks drill a hole at lid edge and thru body, and use a strap or cord as a latch. Hope this helps

Answer:
squirrels, rats and other rodents can chew through steel wire fences; they have the time, the teeth and the determination; really not a fair question
however, i live on a farm, surrounded by all kinds of critters
the can will definitely last for a good long while while critters try to get in

Answer:
Yes, as with any plastic can. Only metal will prevent. if rats are that bad you need some pest control or perhaps a cleaner, paved storage area. Make a point of making all trash pick-ups. In my case I compost all garbage except bones and corncobs by burying in the garden or under new plantings.

Yes, I had one chew through the top. However, had the can not been up against the deck rail, they probably could not have gotten up there, as the top is not as thick as the rest of it.

I had one for 6-months, really in the woods, and nothing (squirrels/raccoon) has gotten through yet - in fact I got this because my older ones where chewed through. hopefully it will stay that way - one of my worries with this one is it is not as solid/sturdy as the ones our disposal company provides.

Toter's organic carts are water tight. These carts are not guaranteed to hold water. However, they most likely could. This 64 gallon trash can is rated at 228 lbs. Water weighs 8.4 lbs./gallon. As reference - the water shouldn't go over the height of the stop bar or it will exceed the rating. Hope that helps, KIL62. If you have any others please feel free to contact Toter at 1-800-424-0422.

Folks were saying I have one big one and that's it. Well, I tried it I bought 96G and it was huge plus I didn't want to risk as my city asks for 32G which is ridiculous! So having 64G would be pushing it. Long story short I ended up getting two 64G smaller to haul and plus with two i'm getting 128G total of trash that is better then one 96G. Plus having two 96G would be an overkill...to much. Another thing is the wheels, both 96G and 64G have the same diameter but 64G would have less load thus withstand more as opposed to 96G. Think of this which one will withstand more 64G with 200LBS or 96G with 300LBS having the same 10" wheels...of course 64G.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ONLY one to buy! I have owned this trash can for 4 years. It has been used continuously and subjected to the usual rigors of weekly manual emptying by the trash truck crews, yet still looks like the day I bought it. This thing is practically indestructible. The lid hinges, the wheels, and the axle are super heavy duty and the bottom and side walls are durable throughout the extremes of Michigan winters and summers. I have owned other wheeled, plastic trash cans that have cracked or had wheels destroyed and I hesitated a bit before paying the higher price for this one. Now, my only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner. There is no down side to owning this trash can. It is truly a great product and worth every penny of the price.

This trash can seems to be built like a tank , a little on the expensive side for a trash can ,but you get what you pay for.
