Product Overview

The Toter residential curbside heavy duty trash cart is a 2-wheeled garbage container with a molded-in axle and attached lid. Toter carts are manufactured through their patented advanced rotational molding process using medium density polyethylene. This allows for added rigidity and extra material in critical wear areas, creating their patented rugged rim at the top edge and the wear strip at the bottom of the container. Toter carts offer a service life expectancy virtually double that of other brands and each comes with a 10 year warranty. They are ANSI certified, the preferred choice of professional haulers and are compatible with automated or semi-automated collection waste truck lifters. For the homeowner, the industry's best tilt-to-roll ratio and easy maneuverability create an effortless roll to the curb. The large footprint and aerodynamic design create a superior wind and set-down stability. The trash carts are available in 32 Gal., 48 Gal., 64 Gal. and 96 Gal. sizes. A distinctive Greenstone textured finish masks normal wear and tear and keeps your Toter looking new for years.

Does the lid just sit on or does it latch closed? We've had trouble with raccoons prying open our previous trash containers.

Asked by: gtlmll
No latch. You could try tying it shut, but raccoons will just chew into it. Other than building a chicken wire shed for them except for the actual day of pickup, we have bears here, so a chain link mesh shed or solid metal shed might work here. I just don't put anything in til the day of pickup. If you are storing animal feed in them, metal shed would be best.

I want to use this trash can for rain water storage - is it water-tight, or can I seal it so it is water-tight?

Asked by: fifi0001
the lid fits nicely, with a groove, but,,,, the lid is not very heavy, if you can put a bungie over from the handle to the bar, that would keep it down. or a hay string, putting a weight on top would not be a good idea, as it might give enough to distort the edges.

Looks like my city's "automated" rubbish and recycle bins. Can anyone report if their city pick-up uses their truck to empty?

Asked by: Gardener
The problem is, most cities use different colored lids or bins for each item (trash or recycle) and tell their workers to put the proper lid color into the proper truck. some places will not empty an unidentified bin. My own county will let me use these for the "yard waste" but they only pick up other containers for trash during high trash production times, like Christmas and Thanksgiving.

I live on a dirt road, the truck would not bring it to my house, I am only putting this here for you to understand. I walked 5 country blocks down to the nearest paved road and pulled them both back to my house. One side note, warranty is only on the body, which is it's strongest point, the lid is not. The wheels are rather small for the load they could be carrying, we will see how the lift bar hold up. over time. I really like the handles as they have slight dents for fingers to get a better grip!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They back their warranty Back in Dec. 2015 I gave this Toter a negative review because my old one fell apart after cracking and breaking due to rough handling by trash collectors. The folks at Toter took notice and responded immediately and offered to replace my busted up Toter. They felt the materials in my old Toter may have been a bad mix and that most Toters hold up well. They followed through and delivered a new one at no cost to me. I am giving this a 5 to counter the 1 I gave it a few months ago. There is a 10 year warranty that accompanies this product, so if it breaks, let them know.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Large and capable We decided to buy this instead of renting a similar container from the trash company. It holds several 13 gallon trash bags easily, the attached lid is good because lids often would go missing. It is heavy enough that it will not be knocked over by wind, but not so heavy that it is hard to move. The wheels appear durable and it rolls down our gravel driveway easily. The can does seem to narrow towards the bottom, and the wheel wells intrude slightly into the space, but small trash bags can easily drop in that spot. I am happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very well built garbage can. for those of us who live in the country and don't have garbage servi... very well built garbage can. for those of us who live in the country and don't have garbage service, this can is perfect. i now have a can that i can keep my garbage in until i make my dump runs, and the raccoons can't knock over. when i do get to the dump, the wheels get me to where i need to be to dump my garbage with eze. i've had these cans for a little over a month now and they seem very solid, and feel like they will last a very long time

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A waist.... My husband and I purchased this toter against our better judgement due to the price back in 2015 and it has a huge hole big enough for a rat to get inside and go through all the trash inside. I felt it was sturdy and durable enough that this wouldn't happen. It may last for a little bit but it says 10 years not for our family.
