Can this be used for an in-swinging door and have it push the door shut, rather than pulling it shut?
Asked by: Mike
Not that I can see, as the cylinder works opposite your needs. No way you can install on the other side?

How do I adjust the speed that it closes>

Asked by: Cake
Yes, there is a philips screw on the left end of the tube. Experiment with turning the screw alittle each way until you get the closing speed you want.

Yes, the 3rd picture down show it at the top and I've also seen this particular one installed that way.

Will this work with an anderson door?

Asked by: JP
An aluminum and glass door weighs more then my wooden screen door, so a single closer might not be enough......but, I did notice when buying mine on line that they do offer a two closer kit for heavier doors like yours. It seems you just install one at the top and one at the bottom.

We have a screen door going to our garage with self closing hinges which slammed terribly and drove my wife and I nuts. One of our dogs was actually afraid of it. Installing the touch n' hold door closer would seem counter productive, but I was able to disconnect the springs within the hinges, install the new closer and it worked beautifully. The hold button is a bonus as we can have the door stay open as we make multiple trips to the car to unload groceries, etc., open the door just a bit more and the hold feature disconnects and the door closes ever so softly. It's been about a month now and I can't find a single fault and it took all of about 10 - 15 minutes to install.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Touch'N Hold Storm Door Closer The closer on our brand new Anderson/Emco storm door was no match for February winds, as a gust blew the door right out of my hand as I opened it. Unlike previous events which either bent the closer rod, ripped it off the door jamb, or both, this time the closer itself just ripped open right at the end cap. Since the Anderson warrantee doesn't cover wind damage, and not wishing to pay Anderson's exhorbitant price for door closers, I found this other brand on Home Depot's website. After doing some research on HD's and the company's own site, I went for the Smooth Close model. It was EXTREMELY easy to install - just popped out the two existing retainer pins, lined up this unit (keeping all the Anderson brackets in place), and replaced the pins. Took about a minute. It does the job, on calm days. If you have ANY wind your door is subject to, DO NOT LET GO of the door until you manually push it closed. The closer does NOT have the oomph to hold and pull the door closed against any wind. Also, if your main door has a decent weather tightness, the air pressure seal created when the storm door closes against it can NOT be overcome by the closer's final pull, again requiring a manual push. The site says the closer body is plastic. Quite frankly, you can't tell. It has the weight, appearance and feel of aluminum.
